A method of extracting at least one time-value curve to determine a protocol in an imaging procedure using an imaging system, includes: determining a first N-dimensional data set of pixel values of a portion of a body of the patient at a first time using the imaging system, wherein N is an integer; determining at least a second N-dimensional data set of pixel values of the portion at a second time using the imaging system; computing a predetermined number of correlated segments of the imaged portion corresponding to a predetermined number of regions of interest of the patient by computing a similarity metric of a time series of pixel values; computing the at least one time-value curve for at least one of the regions of interest; and determining a protocol for a diagnostic scan using the image system based at least in part upon data from the time value curve.

An apparatus and method enabling the injection of fluid media into a plurality of patients is provided, including a fluid supply source providing multiple doses, a metering device for measuring the doses, a pressurizing device to effect injection, a contamination prevention device disposed between the fluid source and the patient and, when desired, an electronic control device to integrate operation of the apparatus and process.

A method for creating improved homogeneity in magnetic flux density in a radio frequency resonator for magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy of the human head. A tapered birdcage resonator is also provided. The tapered birdcage resonator includes two electrically conductive rings and a plurality of rods or conductor legs. The first electrically conductive ring forms an inferior end of the coil. The plurality of legs extends from the first electrically conductive ring. Each of the plurality of legs has a linear portion and a tapered portion. The second electrically conductive ring forms a superior end of the coil and is connected to the tapered portion of the plurality of legs.

A magnetic resonance imaging receiver/transmitter coil system for providing images for regions of interest includes a first phased array formed of a plurality of electrically conductive members and defining an array volume and a second phased array formed of a second plurality of electrically conductive members and disposed at least partially within the defined array volume. At least one of the first and second phased arrays is adapted to apply a magnetic field to the defined array volume. At least one of the first and second phased arrays is further adapted to receive said applied magnetic field. The first phased array is extendible to define a further array volume and is provided with a switch for electrically coupling and decoupling an extension to effectively extend the length of the first phased array and thereby define the further array volume. In this manner the length of the first phased array is effectively extended to approximately twice its unextended length.

A container adapted to store and transport an injectate is disclosed. The container includes a divider which extends from an open top end toward a closed bottom end, the divider spaced apart from the closed bottom end to define an opening and separating the container into a first fluid path on a first side of the divider through which fluid can enter the container through the inlet port and a second fluid path on a second side of the divider through which fluid can enter the opening and exit the container through the outlet port. The second fluid path includes at least one filter between the opening and the open top end through which fluid can pass from the first fluid path to the second fluid path but through which at least one component of the injectate cannot pass.
Abstract:
A fluid delivery system for use in medical procedures includes multiple fluid pump devices to deliver multiple injection fluids to a patient. The system includes a control unit controlling the fluid pump devices. An interactive visual display may be provided and electronically linked to the control unit so a user may select discrete mixture ratios of the first and the second of the multiple injection fluids to be delivered to the patient. A manual control device is operatively associated with the fluid pump devices and includes a housing and an actuator associated with the housing. Actuation of the actuator controls discrete flow rates of the selected discrete mixture ratio of the first and the second of the multiple injection fluids to the patient.

A valveless pharmaceutical infusion system for delivery of a pharmaceutical, such as a radiopharmaceutical, is described. The device may include two or more roller pumps, a fluid path set including a confidence, and a measuring device for measuring a property of the pharmaceutical. Methods for delivering a pharmaceutical, such as a radiopharmaceutical, using a valveless pharmaceutical infusion system are also describe.

A device for delivery of a radiopharmaceutical and delivery of a pharmaceutical agent are described. Various other components for delivery systems including tubing management systems, primer caps, diffusion chambers, radiation shields and syringe shields, needle handles, and other devices and methods are also described. Specifically, needle handles having a needle handle body attachable to a portion of a needle, and one or more wings or fins which are grasped by a user are described. The needle handle may be separated from the needle after insertion of the needle into a subject, and/or may provide access to a portion of tubing extending from the needle.

Vial containers including a collar which is attached to a vial or incorporated into a vial cap, a cap designed to receive a portion of the collar while covering the vial, and a container designed to receive a portion of the collar and encase the body of the vial are described herein. The collar, generally, includes a means for reversibly attaching to the cap and container.

A device for inserting a catheter into a blood vessel that uses fluid flow to aid the insertion of the catheter into a patient is described herein. The device includes a catheter retention device that houses a catheter and is configured to attach to an angiocatheter or other blood vessel access device. The catheter retention device receives fluid and guides the catheter into the blood vessel using the flow of fluid to carry the catheter into the blood vessel.
