摘要: A nuclear medicine infusion system (10) may be used to generate and infuse radioactive liquid into a patient undergoing a diagnostic imaging procedure. In some examples, the infusion system includes a frame (30) that carries a radioisotope generator (52) that generates radioactive eluate via elution. The frame may also carry a beta detector (58) and a gamma detector (60). The beta detector can be positioned to measure beta emissions emitted from the radioactive eluate supplied by the generator. The gamma detector can be positioned to measure gamma emissions emitted from a portion of the radioactive eluate to evaluate a safety of the radioactive eluate delivered by the infusion system.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for generating surface brachytherapy applicators in which catheter channel trajectories are generated laterally from both sides of a cut plane bisecting an initial model of the surface brachytherapy applicator model, thereby mitigating the effects of patient-surface-induced curvature. The catheter channels may be defined based on catheter channel trajectories that are spatially distributed, relative to the cut plane, on both sides of the cut plane, and spatially offset relative to a patient-facing surface of the surface brachytherapy applicator model. In some example embodiments, catheter channel trajectories are spaced relative to the cut plane such that neighbouring catheter channel trajectories are evenly spaced along a set of contours. Prior to fabrication, the local radius of curvature of catheter channels may be adjusted in a manual or automated manner to exceed a threshold.

The evaluation system further includes a program memory portion with a program for repeatedly determining at least one quality value with respect to image generation during the detection period. The image generating apparatus includes an output system including at least one output unit. The at least one output unit includes one output unit for outputting an instruction to a user for further moving the detector in dependence of the detector data. The instruction relates to at least a part of the remaining detection period.

摘要: A catheter treatment apparatus comprises an elongate tubular member and an expandable support. The expandable support comprises a radioactive substance to treat cancerous tissue and is configured to expand from a narrow profile for insertion to a wide profile to engage and treat tissue remaining after resection. The expandable support can be sized to fit within a volume of removed tissue to place the radioactive substance in proximity to the capsule and remaining tissue, to spare the capsule and proximate nerves and vessels to treat tissue in proximity to the capsule. The elongate tubular member may comprise a channel such as a lumen to pass a bodily fluid such as urine when the expandable support engages the tissue to treat the patient for a plurality of days. The treatment apparatus can be used to resect and diagnose tissue concurrently. Based on the diagnosis, targeted segmental treatment may be given.

摘要: The disclosed method of treating a malignant solid tumor in a subject includes the steps of administering to the subject an immunomodulatory dose of a radioactive phospholipid ether metal chelate, a radiohalogenated phospholipid ether, or other targeted radiotherapy (TRT) agent that is differentially retained within malignant solid tumor tissue, and either (a) performing in situ tumor vaccination in the subject by introducing into at least one of the malignant solid tumors one or more agents capable of stimulating specific immune cells within the tumor microenvironment, or (b) performing immunotherapy in the subject by systemically administering to the subject an immunostimulatory agent, such as an immune checkpoint inhibitor. In a non-limiting example, the radioactive phospholipid ether metal chelate or radiohalogenated phospholipid ether has the formula: wherein R1 comprises a chelating agent that is chelated to a metal atom, wherein the metal atom is an alpha, beta or Auger emitting metal isotope with a half-life of greater than 6 hours and less than 30 days, or wherein R1 comprises a radioactive halogen isotope. In one such embodiment, a is 1, n is 18, m is 0, b is 1, and R2 is —N+(CH3)3.

摘要: Iron garnet nanoparticles and or iron garnet particles containing various activatable nuclides, such as holmium-165 (165Ho) and dysprosium-164 (164Dy), are disclosed in this application. The iron garnet (e.g., HoIG and DyIG) nanoparticles and iron garnet particles can prepared using hydroxide co-precipitation methods. In some embodiments, radiosensitizers can be loaded on radioactive magnetic nanoparticles or radioactive iron garnet particles and, optionally, coated with suitable lipid bilayers. Methods of using the disclosed nanoparticles and particles for mediating therapeutic benefit in diseases responsive to radiation therapy are also provided. Another aspect of the invention provides films, electrospun fabrics or bandage coverings for the delivery of radiation to the site of a skin lesion amenable to treatment with radiation (e.g., skin cancers or psoriasis).
