Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel compounds (I), their prodrugs, and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds useful in treating certain metabolic diseases and diseases modulated by the inhibition of the enzyme malonyl-coenzyme A decarboxylase (malonyl-CoA decarboxylase, MCD). In particular, the invention relates to compounds and compositions and the methods for the prophylaxis, management and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, acidosis, cancers, and obesity through the inhibition of malonyl-coenzyme A decarboxylase.

A fuel assembly for a pressurized water reactor that includes a bottom nozzle, a plurality of elongated guide thimbles projecting upwardly from the bottom nozzle, an array of fuel rods, a plurality of support grids axially spaced along the guide thimbles, and at least two Intermediate Flow Mixing grids, which may have different configurations of mixing device formations, disposed between pairs of non-uniformly spaced, adjacent support grids at selected locations.
Abstract:
A dirty paper precoding (“DPC”) method for broadcasting a signal is disclosed that takes advantage of knowledge of the structure of interference in order to avoid the quantization noise that results in the conventional DPC method. The proposed method modifies the Tomlinson-Harishima precoding (“THP”) scheme by selecting a constellation and mapping scheme that is designed based on the known interference modulation structure of the interference signal, which is typically directed to a second receiver. In a particular embodiment, a source signal and an interference signal are QAM modulated. The modulation structure information of the interference signal is known to the receiver. At the transmitter the source signal is precoded based on the known interference structure, and a common mapping rule is implemented, such that the received signal can be decoded at the receiver without requiring a modulo operation at either the transmitter or receiver.
Abstract:
In a communications receiver for quadrature demodulation, a feedback technique for reducing the image response of the receiver. The communications receiver includes an I demodulator and a Q demodulator. A local oscillator (LO) signal is provided by a PLL to a quadrature LO generator that provides an LO_I signal to an I demodulator and an LO_Q signal to a Q demodulator. The LO_I and LO_Q signals are amplitude and phase-controlled versions of the LO signal. An image/signal ratio (I/S) detector detects the relative phase difference and the relative amplitude difference between the respective output terminals of the I demodulator and the Q demodulator and applies an amplitude control signal and a phase control signal to corresponding amplitude control and phase control inputs of the quadrature LO generator. The I/S detector calibrates the quadrature LO generator during the interstitial interval between the reception of data packets. The control signals from the I/S detector adjust the relative amplitude and phase of the LO_I and LO_Q signals in a manner that reduces the image response of the communications receiver.
Abstract:
This invention provides novel prostate cancer specific internalizing human antibodies. The antibodies are useful by themselves to prevent growth and/or proliferation of prostate cancer cells. The antibodies can also be formulated as chimeric molecules to direct an effector (e.g. a cytotoxin, an imaging reagent, a drug, etc.) to a prostate tumor site.
Abstract:
A method of communicating with a transceiver (120). In one arrangement, the method of communicating with the transceiver can be performed in a systemless group environment. Synchronization information (150) can be received from a mobile transceiver (110) and used to synchronize to the mobile transceiver. The synchronization information can include a timing offset and a frequency offset. Synchronization can be maintained until a predetermined condition is met, for example, a predetermined amount of group inactivity.
Abstract:
A method for transferring messages between a first processor (102) and a second processor (104) includes the step of requesting an empty message buffer (106) from the first processor or master processor (102). The first processor (102) sends an empty message buffer pointer (108) which the second processor uses to locate the allocated memory within the shared memory (112). The second processor (104) then loads its message in the allocated memory area and sends the message (110). After receiving the message, the first processor (102) releases the allocated memory area found in shared memory (112) so that it can be used in the future. An electronic device such as a radio communication device that uses the shared memory scheme is also described.
