The invention provides crosslinked rubber moldings for golf balls obtained by spherically molding and crosslinking a rubber composition containing a base rubber, a co-crosslinking agent and a crosslinking agent, then impregnating the crosslinked rubber molding with a rubber compounding chemical and inducing a chemical reaction. The rubber compounding chemical-impregnated crosslinked molding has a higher surface hardness than the crosslinked molding prior to impregnation. The invention also provides a method for manufacturing such crosslinked rubber moldings for golf balls. The invention enables a sufficient rise in the surface hardness of the core to be achieved, thus increasing the degree of freedom in the design of the golf ball.

A method for producing the molded rubber material, and a golf ball having the molded rubber material as the solid core. The method permits efficient production of high-quality rubber molded material with high rebound resilience.

The invention provides a molded rubber material for a golf ball which is obtained by molding and vulcanizing a rubber composition that includes a portion of a master batch prepared by mixing together a synthetic rubber, an unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt and a higher fatty acid or metal salt thereof, and includes also a diene rubber and an organic peroxide, wherein the master batch is prepared at a maximum temperature attained during preparation of above 110° C. Also disclosed are a method of producing such a molded rubber material, and a golf ball in which such a molded rubber material is used as a component of the ball. Use of the molded rubber material as a golf ball core enables a good core hardness under load and a good core resilience to be achieved.
