Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to an apparatus, method and other techniques to receive thermal energy from a source, convert phase change material (102) from an initial state to a secondary state in response to absorption of the thermal energy, and transfer the thermal energy from the phase change material (102) to a thermoelectric component (106). In addition, various embodiments may include collecting, conducting and converting the thermal energy into electrical energy for use in powering one or more electronic components.

Abstract: In an example, a mobile computing device is provided with mechanical driver s for enhancing audio output, including low-frequency audio. The mechanical drivers may be provided to supplement traditional speakers. In an embodiment, mechanical drivers are boosted in effectiveness by being disposed against a sturdy surface such as a desktop. When a user holds a convertible tablet up, such enhancement may be provided by enabling mechanical drivers that are disposed against a base or other structural member of the convertible tablet.

Abstract: A computer system includes two or more subsystems. In one example, a first subsystem is executing a multimedia application using data stored in a first storage device. A copy of the data is also stored in a second storage device associated with a second subsystem. The second subsystem may be a dedicated multimedia player controller. When the first subsystem is to enter a sleep state, the second subsystem may continue to process the multimedia data stored in the second storage device. The second subsystem may also use the same audio port that the first subsystem was using before it enters the sleep state. Appropriate transition point may be determined by the second subsystem to ease audio disruption.

A characteristic of the blow input is identified. An active application is determined to be running on the apparatus. The blow input is translated to an instruction based on the characteristic and the active application. The instruction is transmitted to the active application.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods may include a first power source to output power at a first normal power level and a first peak power level and a second power source cooperating with the first power source to output power at a second normal power level and a second peak power level. A system peak power control unit may monitor workload power requirements and cause the first power source to output the first peak power level at a first time period and cause the second power source to output the second peak power level at a second time period, different from the first time period. The time periods may be contiguous or discontiguous.
