Abstract:
In an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) communication system, a method at a receiver end is provided. The method comprises the steps of: providing a frame; providing a guard interval (GI) associated with the frame, the GI having a length in a time domain larger or longer than a channel span; and extracting OFDM information comprising a first OFDM information starting from a first point after the channel span to a first end point within the frame.
Abstract:
In an OFDM system having guard intervals interposed between symbols or frames, and having pilot signals distributed within the symbols or frames, a method for channel estimation is provided. The method comprising the steps of: in the time domain, performing an operation to obtain only a set of received pilots; and sectionalizing or subdividing the set of received pilots into a plurality of sub-sections; whereby a refined channel estimation is obtained on a sub-sectional basis.
Abstract:
A method for creating an electron lens includes the steps of applying a polymer layer on an emitter surface of an electron emitter and then curing the polymer layer to reduce volatile content.
Abstract:
An apparatus for MRI having an RF birdcage coil and an RF shield is disclosed. The RF birdcage coil includes a coil axis, an end ring portion disposed about the axis, and a plurality of legs disposed parallel to the axis and in signal communication with the end ring portion. The RF shield is disposed about the coil and is in signal communication therewith. The shield includes a cylindrical conductive sheet having first and second ends, and a plurality of sets of discontinuous slots disposed about the cylindrical sheet and running between the first and second ends, wherein a region of discontinuity within a set of the slots is aligned with the end ring portion.

Abstract:
An ophthalmic lens suited for extended-wear periods of at least one day on the eye without a clinically significant amount of corneal swelling and without substantial wearer discomfort. The lens has a balance of oxygen permeability and ion or water permeability, with the ion or water permeability being sufficient to provide good on-eye movement, such that a good tear exchange occurs between the lens and the eye. A preferred lens is a copolymerization product of a oxyperm macromer and an ionoperm monomer. The invention encompasses extended wear contact lenses, which include a core having oxygen transmission and ion transmission pathways extending from the inner surface to the outer surface.
