    Abstract: A method of handling NAS signaling connection release using guard timers for UE supporting MUSIM in an EPS/5GS network is proposed. When a UE establishes a NAS signaling connection over a first USIM, the UE may need to switch a second USIM due to more important activities on the second USIM. If both the UE and the network support the feature of releasing the NAS signalling connection or rejection of paging, the UE can set a Request type to “NAS Signaling connection release” or “Rejection of paging” in a request message. In order to guarantee the release of the NAS signaling connection over the first USIM, the UE can start a guard timer upon receiving an accept message from the network. The UE can locally release the NAS signaling connection upon timer expiry to improve service on the second USIM.

    Abstract: A method of handling authentication reject upon accessing an SNPN using credentials from a credential holder is proposed. A UE is configured with a “list of subscriber data”. The UE selects an SNPN using the configured list of subscriber data, e.g., based on the SNPN selection parameters contained in a selected entry of the list of subscriber data. Based on the selected entry, the UE selects an SNPN, and then tries to access the selected SNPN using credentials supplied by a subscribed SNPN. When UE receives an authentication reject message from the network, UE considers that the selected entry of the list of subscriber data is invalid. However, other entries related to the current selected SNPN are still valid. UE is still able to access the current selected SNPN, using credentials supplied in another entry of the list of subscriber data.

    Abstract: A method supporting enhanced network identity (NID) provisioning under User Equipment (UE) mobility scenarios between different types of networks is proposed. When a UE registers to an SNPN, the UE is assigned with a 5G-GUTI by the SNPN. The SNPN is identified by an SNPN ID==PLMN ID+NID. When the UE moves from the SNPN to another target network having a target AMF, the UE triggers a mobility registration update procedure and provides the 5G-GUTI along with NID information in a Registration Request to the target AMF. The target AMF can use the NID information along with the 5G-GUTI to find a source AMF for deriving UE context for the subsequent operations during the mobility registration update procedure. Providing NID information along with 5G-GUTI can assist the target AMF to find the source AMF efficiently, preventing a potential registration procedure failure.

    Abstract: A method of maintaining a proper forbidden tracking area identifier (TAI) list is proposed. A UE receives a service area list comprising one or more allowed tracking areas. The service area list may be carried by a configuration update command. UE compares if any of the allowed tracking area having a matching TAI in the forbidden TAI list. Accordingly, UE removes any allowed tracking areas having a matching TAI from the forbidden TAI list. In one embodiment, UE sends a REGISTERATION REQUEST message to initiate a registration procedure. In response, UE receives a REGISTRATION ACCEPT message, which may also carry a service area list. UE may remove the allowed tracking area having a matching TAI from the forbidden TAI list. However, if UE is registered for emergency services, then UE shall not remove the allowed tracking area from the forbidden TAI list.

    Abstract: Various examples and schemes pertaining to enhancement of voice domain selection in 5th-Generation Systems (5GS) and fast return from Evolved Packet System (EPS) to 5GS are described. A processor of a user equipment (UE) receive an indication of whether a packet-switched (PS) voice service is supported in a first mobile communication system. The processor performs, based on the indication, voice domain selection (VDS) by selecting and engaging with one of a plurality of mobile communication systems comprising the first mobile communication system and at least a second mobile communication system. The processor performs the VDS before receiving signaling from one of the plurality of communication systems about availability of support for the PS voice service in that mobile communication system.
