摘要: It is an object of the present invention to improve a margin to meet good recording quality by conducting a realtime correction of a recording condition of a medium with different recording characteristics for inner and outer circumferences. To accomplish the object, control factors for power and a pulse width are independently detected and corrected using an mT pulse having a length of m′T as a pulse for power control and an nT pulse having a length of n′T as a pulse for pulse width control; more specifically, power correction for mT pulse and pulse width correction for nT pulse are conducted in realtime, wherein a recording pulse stream including the mT pulse and nT pulse is irradiated onto a medium 500 by a recording laser beam 20A as well as pits and spaces formed by irradiation of the recording pulse stream are reproduced by a reproducing laser beam 20E to detect the effects of power and pulse width variations independently.

摘要: A successive approximation A/D converter which converts an analog signal to a digital signal by carrying out successive A/D conversions of the analog signal. It carries out, for a least significant bit of the digital signal, A/D conversion of the analog signal using a reference voltage corresponding to a previous digital signal obtained as a result of a previous A/D conversion, increments a current digital signal, which is obtained as a result of the latest A/D conversion, when the least significant bit of the current digital signal is “1”, and decrements the current digital signal when the least significant bit is “0”. This makes it possible to solve a problem of a conventional successive approximation A/D converter in that the tracking ability of the digital signal to variations of the analog signal is degraded because of the long update period involved in the increasing number of the bits of the A/D converter, if full bit conversion is carried out.

摘要: In a starter (1) for an internal combustion engine including a planetary gear type reduction gear unit (2) and a housing (17) for accommodating at least the reduction gear unit (2), a recess (51) is formed at a lower part (17a) of the housing (17) in an installed state of the starter (1) in a manner that the recess (51) is formed in an inner periphery of the housing (17) so as to define a drain passage (51) extending substantially axially, and a part (52) of an outer periphery of a first annular member (12), which constitutes a part of the reduction gear unit (2), protrudes into the recess (51). Thus, the protruding part (52) of the outer periphery of the first annular member (12) forms a labyrinth structure in the drain passage (51) defined by the recess (51) formed in the inner periphery of the housing (17), to thereby effectively prevent water from entering the housing (17) through the drain passage (51) without substantially impeding the passage of water from the housing (17) to the outside. This protruding part (52) is integrally formed in the first annular member (12), and therefore no additional component parts are required to make the labyrinth structure.
