摘要: Described herein are bioerodible, biodegradable, or digestible self-deploying intragastric implants that may be swallowed. Once swallowed, the implants undergo self-expansion in the stomach and apply a suitable pressure against the stomach wall to provide a feeling of satiety to the individual. The implants then dissolve or are disassembled perhaps using gastric liquids and pass out of the stomach. Methods of using the devices, perhaps for an individual participating in a dietary control regimen, are described.

摘要: We describe devices, methods, and systems used for hair removal. In particular, we describe hair removal devices, particularly epilation devices, methods of using those devices, and systems including those hair removal devices. Our hair removal devices include, in combination, a.) at least one primary energy source that applies that energy, e.g., radio-frequency (RF), high intensity focused ultrasonic (HIFU) energy, or high intensity light, e.g., intense-pulsed light (IPL) or light from flash lamps or lasers, to the skin or to hair in a continuous, semi-continuous, or pulsed mode and b.) a hair removal component or components, such as rotary mechanical hair removal structures or epilators, that perform a mechanical hair removal step. Auxiliary treatment or control components such as comparatively lower power heaters, ultrasound devices, coolers, impedance measurement devices, etc. may also be included in the combination or used in conjunction with our combination device.

摘要: It is one object of the present invention to provide a device for extracting a clot from a blood vessel in a non fragmented manner, comprising: 1. an endless wire coupled to a spring-like helical member having a plurality of loops; said loops are positioned at an angle A relatively to the main longitudinal axis of said blood vessel; and, are adapted to radially encircle at least a portion of the outer circumference of said clot; and, 2. a tubular mesh-like net for both enveloping said helical member and enclosing said clot therein; wherein at least a portion of said clot is contemporaneously confined within said loops and said mesh-like net, such that radial compression forces and longitudinal shearing forces are exerted on said clot and the tendency of said clot to fragment is mitigated.

摘要: A method for accelerating hemostasis of an artery having a puncture after arterial catheterization, the catheterization using a catheter introducer, the method including the steps of inserting into an artery a catheter introducer prior to arterial catheterization, following arterial catheterization, introducing a hemostasis device into the catheter introducer, such that a forward end of the hemostasis device lies exterior of the artery adjacent a puncture in a wall of the artery, accelerating hemostasis by heating blood in the vicinity of the puncture, thereby shortening the time required for hemostasis and following hemostasis, removing the catheter introducer and hemostasis device from the patient. A method for monitoring the progress of hemostasis of an artery is also disclosed.

摘要: The invention provides methods and apparatuses for the treatment of adipose tissue. The methods comprise application of ultrasound energy to a region of adipose tissue, and the apparatuses comprise at least one source of ultrasound energy configured to direct ultrasound energy through a skin surface into the subcutaneous adipose tissue. In one embodiment, a pressure gradient is created in the region generating relative movement between fat cell constituents having different densities. In another embodiment, a protrusion of skin and underlying adipose tissue containing is formed and ultrasound energy is radiated into the adipose tissue in the protrusion. In another embodiment, an RF electric field is generated inside a region of adipose tissue together with the ultrasound energy.
