The provision of the composite film consisting of the gate oxide film and the groove side wall between gate electrode and the substrate in the groove upper part enables reduction of the parasitic capacitance of the gate electrode.

The no-response detecting unit performs carrier sense. Then, after communication from an open channel is started, the no-response detecting unit detects the communication state with the tag. At least one of the substrates includes a structure as domain regulating means, and inclined surfaces of the structure operate as a trigger to regulate azimuths of the oblique orientations of the liquid crystal when the intermediate voltage is applied.
