    摘要: A fire extinguishing system for use with gas or electric range stove top to automatically deploy and energize an audible alarm. The system includes a pressurized supply of inert gas within an inflatable bag. A grease fire on the stove top breaks the fusible cord and allows the case to open, releasing the inert gas supply. The inert gas inflates a flame resistant bag to cover the burners of the stove top. The bottom of the flame resistant bag is a specific temperature sensitive material that will decompose on contact with the grease fire. As the bottom decomposes, the flame resistant material surrounds the cooking container containing the grease fire. The grease fire becomes isolated by flame resistant materials and inert gas. The bottom two layers of the bag have an additional layer of non-flammable absorbent fiber between the two layers of the decomposing bottom. The decomposing bottom layer releases the non-flammable absorbent fiber into the cooking container containing the extinguished grease fire to absorb the cooking grease and prevent the cooking grease from re-igniting.

    摘要: A valve assembly has a valve body having an inlet section for a pressurized fluid and an outlet. A piston is movable within the valve body between an open position and a closed position blocking fluid communication. The piston has an end section, a sealing section and a middle section located between the end section and the sealing section. A cavity receives the piston within the valve body. The cavity has a superior chamber, an intermediate chamber, and an inferior chamber. A spring within the superior chamber exerts a spring force onto the piston to urge the piston towards the open position. An actuator device provides upon actuation for a first flow of fluid outside the cavity from the inlet section to the superior chamber. The first flow causes a pressure within the superior chamber to increase until it is about the same as the pressure within the container so that the spring force moves the piston to the open position. In the open position a main flow of fluid flows from the inlet section via the intermediate chamber to the outlet.

    摘要: An aircraft cabin air treatment system configured in accordance with the invention utilizes oxygen enriched air, which is produced as a byproduct of an onboard inert gas generation system. The oxygen enriched air is released into an environment under ambient pressure conditions, i.e., at a relatively low absolute pressure compared to the cabin pressure. The low pressure oxygen enriched air is compressed with a cabin air compressor, and the outside air is routed back into the cabin. The cabin air compressor functions to generate oxygen enriched outside air and to maintain the desired pressurization of the cabin.

The same air-separation device allows supplying passengers and crew with unlimited amounts of oxygen for as long as needed. New methods of a rapid fire suppression utilizing the propulsion of water mist or fire-extinguishing foam by hypoxic air are presented. The combination of water mist or foam with hypoxic air allows to present two innovative fire-extinguishing compositions.

    摘要: Manually activated, portable aerosol fire extinguisher includes a casing having an outer circumferential surface, the casing having a plurality of discharge ports disposed in the outer circumferential surface. The extinguisher also includes an arrangement for generating fire suppression agent which is discharged through the discharge ports, and a manual activation system which enables manual activation of the generating arrangement at a safe location a distance from the fire. The activation system includes a firing pin which causes ignition of igniter material upon contact therewith (resulting in generation of the fire suppression agent), a handle which normally prevents the firing pin from contacting the igniter material and a manually releasable pull pin arranged to maintain the handle in a position preventing the firing pin from contacting the igniter material. Upon release of the pull pin, the handle is urged out of this position with the result that the firing pin contacts the igniter material, thereby causing generation of the fire suppression agent.

    摘要: The design and use of a simplified, highly efficient, waveguide-based wireless distribution system are provided. A low-loss waveguide is used to transport wireless signals from a signal source or sources to one or more receiver locations. One or more adjustable signal coupling devices partially insert into the waveguide at predetermined locations along the length of the system to provide variable, controlled extraction of one or more wireless signals. Low-loss impedance matching circuitry is provided between the waveguide coupling devices and output connectors to maintain high system efficiency. The system offers the capability of supplying signals of high strength and high quality to a large number of receivers in a wide wireless coverage area via a plurality of signal radiators. Some embodiments of the system are readily adaptable for wireless distribution service in HVAC plenum spaces. A system that combines the functions of fire extinguishing and waveguide wireless distribution is also disclosed.
