Abstract:
Provided is a method of forming an antifouling coating film including the steps of [1] preparing a colored antifouling paint containing a prescribed Si-containing hydrolyzable resin and a color pigment such that a coating film having a target dry film thickness T completely hides a surface of an object to be coated, the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE1 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 0.8 T, at least 2.0, and preferably the colored antifouling paint has a color difference ΔE2 between the coating film having the thickness T and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 1.2 T, less than 1, and [2] coating a surface of the object with the colored antifouling paint until the surface of the object is completely hidden by the coating film formed from the colored antifouling paint.
Abstract:
An erodible antifouling coating composition for application, for example,to ship's hulls to potentially prevent the adhesion and build up of fouling agents on the hull is described. The coating composition comprises an erodible binder system excluding a triorgano tin based binder; optionally, one or more antifouling agents; and at least one silicone oil. A process for producing the composition, a substrate coated with the composition, and a process of coating a substrate with the composition are also described.
Abstract:
A curable composition includes (A) an organic polymer having a silicon-containing group, which can be crosslinked by forming a siloxane bond (100 parts by weight), (B) a diester compound obtained from polyethylene glycol and aliphatic monocarboxylic acid and/or alicyclic monocarboxylic acid (21-300 parts by weight), and (C) an amidine compound (0.01-20 parts by weight).
Abstract:
An antifogging article having an antifogging film excellent in antifogging property and in durability, an article for transportation apparatus provided with the antifogging article, and a base layer forming composition with sufficiently long pot life used for obtaining the antifogging article are provided. An antifogging article has a substrate, and an antifogging film on the substrate having a base layer made of a base material with low water absorbing property, and a water absorbing layer made of a water absorbing material having a water absorbing property higher than that of the base material, and the base material is obtained by using a composition containing (A) a raw material component of a first cured resin, (B) a silane-based coupling agent having a functional group other than an amino group having reactivity with the (A) component and a hydrolyzable group, and (C) tetraalkoxysilane and/or a polymer thereof in a prescribed ratio.
Abstract:
To provide a process for producing a powder coating material capable of forming a cured film which is excellent in weather resistance and which has few voids (gaps); a coated article having such a cured film; and a method for producing a carboxy group-containing fluororesin less susceptible to gelation. A process for producing a powder coating material containing a powder (X) composed of a composition (a) comprising a fluororesin (A) having carboxy groups, or alkoxysilyl groups and urethane bonds, and a curing agent (D), said process comprising (a) a step of melt-kneading a mixture comprising a hydroxy group-containing fluororesin (B), an acid anhydride (C1) or a compound (C2) having an alkoxysilyl group and an isocyanate group, and the curing agent (D), to obtain a kneaded product composed of the composition (α), and (b) a step of pulverizing the kneaded product to obtain the powder (X).
Abstract:
A polymeric coating for a glass substrate includes a hexafluoropropylene oxide derived silane polymer. The hexafluoropropylene oxide derived silane polymer has a molecular weight of greater than about 5500, a thickness of between about 2 and about 15 nanometers and a coefficient of friction constant of less than about 0.35. A water contact angle of the polymeric hexafluoropropylene oxide derived silane coating decreases by less than about 27% after being subjected to 10000 abrasion cycles.
Abstract:
Provided are a film in which the balance between hydrophilicity and abrasion resistance is superior, decrease in hydrophilicity by water is minimal, and the weather resistance is also superior; as well as a polymer and a polymer composition that can yield such a film. The film of the invention is prepared from a specific copolymer (i) having a sulfonic acid-containing group, an epoxy group, and a specific alkoxysilyl group in a molecule, or from a composition including the copolymer (i).
