Abstract: A computer-implemented method, in accordance with one aspect of the present invention includes, during movement of a vehicle, monitoring for a predetermined condition corresponding to potential presence of an animal on a roadway. Abstract: A method of enhancing positioning of a moving vehicle based on visual identification of visual objects, comprising obtaining from a location sensor a global positioning and a movement vector of a moving vehicle, capturing one or more images using one or more imaging devices mounted on the moving vehicle to depict at least partial view of a surroundings of the moving vehicle, analyzing the image(s) to identify one or more visual objects having a known geographical position obtained according to the global positioning from a visual data record associated with a navigation map, analyzing the image(s) to calculate a relative positioning of the moving vehicle with respect to the identified visual object(s), calculating an enhanced positioning of the moving vehicle based on the relative positioning and applying the enhanced positioning to a navigation system of the moving vehicle.

Abstract: A driving support apparatus includes a surrounding sensor capable of acquiring surrounding information on a three-dimensional object around a vehicle and a road marking ahead of the vehicle, and a vehicle state sensor capable of acquiring vehicle state information on multiple types of vehicle states in response to driving operation by a driver, including an AP operation amount in response to the driver's AP operation as one of the vehicle states. The apparatus further includes a control unit configured to execute deceleration assist control to assist deceleration when a predetermined start condition is satisfied, and to cancel the deceleration assist control when a cancel condition which is satisfied when the AP operation is performed during execution of the deceleration assist control is satisfied. When the cancel condition is satisfied, the control unit reduces the braking force based on the surrounding information and the vehicle state information.

Abstract: An information notification system notifies a user of a vehicle of information. A first condition is that one or more time-designated speed limit signs recognized by a camera mounted on the vehicle designate all times of day as a whole. The information notification system determines whether or not the first condition is satisfied. When the first condition is not satisfied, the information notification system notifies the user of at least a legal speed limit on a road on which the one or more time-designated speed limit signs are installed, based on reference information on the legal speed limit in a region in which the vehicle is used.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a current state of at least one traffic light (“TL”) for use in controlling an autonomous vehicle are described herein. Implementations can generate a corresponding numerical measure, for each of multiple candidate states of the TL, based on processing an image capturing a region that is predicted to include the TL using machine learning classifier(s). Implementations further generate a corresponding final measure, for each of the candidate states, based on processing each of the corresponding numerical measures using TL model(s), select one of the candidate states as a current state of the TL based on the final measures, and control the autonomous vehicle based on the current state of the TL. Notably, each of the corresponding final measures can be generated as a function of the corresponding numerical measures of the candidate states, and the corresponding numerical measures of the other candidate states.

Abstract: A road sign interpretation system includes a front-facing camera mounted on or in a vehicle collecting image data of multiple road signs. A first convolutional neural network (CNN) receives the image data from the front-facing camera and yields a set of sign predictions including one or more sign text instances. A second CNN defining a text extractor receives the image data from the front-facing camera and extracts text candidates including the multiple sign text instances. Sign and sign data localization is provided in the second CNN to compute a text order from the multiple sign text instances. A sign text synthesizer module receives individual sign text instances from the first CNN and individual ones of the sign text instances in digitized forms from an optical character recognizer (OCR). A semantic encoding and interpretation module receives the sign text instances and identifies semantics of the multiple road signs.
