摘要: The technology relates to determining general weather conditions affecting the roadway around a vehicle, and how such conditions may impact driving and route planning for the vehicle when operating in an autonomous mode. For instance, the on-board sensor system may detect whether the road is generally icy as opposed to a small ice patch on a specific portion of the road surface. The system may also evaluate specific driving actions taken by the vehicle and/or other nearby vehicles. Based on such information, the vehicle's control system is able to use the resultant information to select an appropriate braking level or braking strategy. As a result, the system can detect and respond to different levels of adverse weather conditions. The on-board computer system may share road condition information with nearby vehicles and with remote assistance, so that it may be employed with broader fleet planning operations.

摘要: A global multi-vehicle decision making system is disclosed for providing real-time motion planning and coordination of one or multiple connected and automated and/or semi-automated vehicles (CAVs) in an interconnected traffic network that includes one or multiple non-controlled vehicles (NCVs), one or multiple conflict zones and one or multiple conflict-free road segments. The system includes a receiver configured to acquire infrastructure sensing signals, at least one memory configured to store map and programs, and at least one processor configured to perform steps of formulating a global mixed-integer programming (MIP) problem using the infrastructure sensing signals, computing a motion plan for each CAV and each NCV in the traffic network by solving the global MIP problem, computing an optimal sequence of entering/exiting times and a sequence of average velocities for each CAV and each NCV, and computing a velocity profile and/or one or multiple planned stops for each CAV.

The system comprises a data storage unit for storing a database of a plurality of configurators and a corresponding database of a plurality of vehicle product portfolios. Each configurator and its corresponding portfolio are associated with a specific vehicle specification. The system also comprises a user interface unit for (i) receiving a set of vehicle characteristics that is associated with the vehicle, (ii) selecting one of the configurators and its corresponding portfolio based upon the set of vehicle characteristics, and (iii) creating a job based upon the selected configurator and its corresponding portfolio to enable a user to execute the job to program the vehicle controller.

The electrical system comprises an electric power supply and an electric motor-generator connected to the drive train of the vehicle. The hydraulic system includes a pump, and a hydraulic actuator. At least one of the electrical system and the hydraulic system includes energy recovery means arranged to convert kinetic energy from the drive train to electrical energy or to convert kinetic energy from the hydraulic actuator into hydraulic pressure respectively. The electrical and hydraulic systems are connected such that the recovered energy may be converted from electrical to hydraulic energy and/or vice versa. The hydraulic system may further include a hydraulic accumulator.

摘要: The present disclosure generally relates to autonomous commercial vehicles. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a method for controlling a commercial highway vehicle. The method includes detecting a failure of a first component based on a first signal from a first sensor. The method also includes classifying, by an automated driving system on the vehicle, a severity of the component failure. The method further includes determining to stop the vehicle if the severity exceeds a threshold severity level. The method also includes determining an emergency stopping distance based on the severity and a current momentum of the vehicle. The method further includes determining a stopping location within the emergency stopping distance. The method also includes stopping the vehicle at the stopping location. The present disclosure also provides an autonomous commercial vehicle and an emergency control system for performing the method.
