Abstract: A device receives border gateway protocol (BGP) data associated with links provided in a segment routing network. The segment routing network includes a first autonomous system (AS) with first network devices interconnected by a first portion of the links, a second AS with second network devices interconnected by a second portion of the links, and an inter-AS link provided between one of the first network devices and one of the second network devices. The device filters prefixes of the BGP data to identify BGP data associated with the inter-AS link, where the BGP data associated with the inter-AS link includes data identifying state information associated with the inter-AS link. The device determines an operational state of the inter-AS link based on the BGP data associated with the inter-AS link, and performs one or more actions based on the operational state of the inter-AS link.

Abstract: Techniques are described for capturing dropped packets and creating modified dropped packets with drop information associated with the dropped packets to provide greater details of the dropped packets for further analysis and/or serviceability. For example, a computing device comprises an internal communication channel, a process executing in user space, and a virtual router. The virtual router comprises, for example, processing circuitry and a drop interface to the internal communication channel, wherein the virtual router is configured to: receive a packet; in response to determining the packet is to be dropped, creating a modified dropped packet to include drop information associated with the packet; and provide the modified dropped packet to the drop interface to communicate the modified dropped packet via the internal communication channel to the process.

Abstract: A switch is provided for routing packets in an interconnection network. The switch includes egress ports to transmit packets, and ingress ports to receive packets. The switch also includes a buffer capacity circuit configured to obtain local buffer capacity for buffers configured to buffer packets transmitted via the switch. The switch also includes a telemetry circuit configured to receive telemetry flow control units from next switches coupled to the switch. Each telemetry flow control unit corresponds to buffer capacity at a respective next switch. The switch also includes a network capacity circuit configured to compute network capacity for transmitting packets to a destination based on the telemetry flow control units and the local buffer capacity. The switch also includes a routing circuit configured to receive packets via the ingress ports, and route the packets to the destination, via the egress ports, with bandwidth proportional to the network capacity.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for fast convergence in Layer 2 overlay network are described. Forwarding of Layer 2 (L2) traffic addressed to one or more remote L2 destinations is performed according to a remote L2 (RL2) instance, where the RL2 instance identifies a primary path for forwarding the traffic towards the remote L2 destinations, and a provider edge service label (PESL) instance associated with a broadcast domain including one or more network devices for forwarding the L2 traffic towards the L2 destination, and where the PESL instance is identified with a unique immutable PESL instance label. In response to a network event, an update of the RL2 instance is performed. The update results in an update of a data plane for forwarding the L2 traffic without necessitating an update of forwarding table entries for each one of the one or more remote L2 destination.

Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a model of a transit autonomous system (AS) network. The method comprises analyzing the routing information base for each border gateway protocol (BGP) node in the AS and storing, for each BGP router, (i) a routing table; and, (ii) a prioritized list of next hops for each prefix based on the appropriate best path algorithm. The model can be used to (a) determine how traffic will be routed through the transit AS in steady state and failure scenarios (e.g. when one or more links or nodes/routers have failed); and/or (b) determine how traffic should be routed through the transit AS (e.g. determine the best routes) in steady state and failure scenarios. The optimal routing of the traffic in a particular steady state or failure scenario (as determined by the model) can be compared to the actual routing of the traffic in the steady state or failure scenario (as determined by the model) to determine what changes to make to the transit AS to achieve the optimum routing.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for automatically configuring multiple chassis links in a multi-chassis system using a management controller. The management controller can request and receive switch port data from a plurality of server systems, and a plurality of switches of the multi-chassis system. Based upon received switch port data, the management controller can determine peer link ports for a first switch and a second switch of the plurality of switches; select suitable port groups from a plurality of ports of the first switch and the second switch based upon the received switch port data; and configure ports in each suitable port group as a MC-LAG member port for the corresponding suitable port group.
