Abstract: A golf ball includes a core unit and a cover unit enclosing the core unit. The core unit is made from a rubber composition which includes a rubber material, a halogenated organo-sulfur compound, and a phosphorus-containing material. The phosphorus-containing material is selected from the group consisting of metal phosphate, polyphosphate, polyphosphoric ester, phosphonate, phosphate-modified polyester, and combinations thereof. The cover unit is made from a thermoplastic polyurethane composition.

Abstract: An ambidextrous or hand-specific glove including a wrist region, a palm region, and a digit region. The glove may be fabricated of nitrile rubber that is free of or essentially free of zinc, sulfur and accelerators to reduce allergic reactions in populations required to frequently wear protective gloves. A band region that partially or fully encircles a user's finger knuckles may be provided for easier finger bending. Texturing may be provided on glove surfaces that are used to grip articles. The fingertip regions on the front surface of the index and middle finger regions may be un-textured or smooth to enable a user to take a patient's pulse. These fingertip regions may be of reduced or smaller diameter and circumference so as to pull the glove material tightly around the tips of the user's finger and thereby applying pressure thereto so that even a faint pulse in a patient may be detected.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes techniques for fabricating a textile article that incorporates bristle-like filaments protruding away from a surface plane of the textile article. The techniques describe a fabrication surface, one or more magnets positioned on the fabrication surface, an intermediary layer that overlays the one or more magnets, and a wet laminate includes a resin substrate with magnetic particles. The presence of the magnetic particles may cause the resin substrate to form bristle-like filaments in areas that the resin substrate overlays the one or more magnets.

Abstract: A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.

Abstract: The invention relates to a component having at least to some extent a layer structure, wherein the layer structure includes an elastomer layer with a density greater than 800 g/L, and a thermoset layer including at least 50% by weight of a first polyurethane. The invention further relates to a process for the production of a component of this type, the process including (i) provision of a female mold into which the individual layers of the layer structure are introduced, or of a male mold to which the individual layers of the layer structure are applied; (ii) production of the elastomer layer via spraying; (iii) production of the thermoset layer via spraying; and (iv) demolding of the resultant component. Step (ii) can be carried out before step (iii) or step (iii) can be carried out before step (ii).

Abstract: The utilization of heat in the manufacturing of footwear may be accomplished through microwave energy. The microwave energy is conveyed to the footwear components through a microwave transparent window of a tool. The microwave transparent tool window forms as least a portion of a part-contacting surface of the tool. Another surface of the tool is formed from a microwave reflecting material, such as aluminum. The footwear component(s) are exposed to microwave energy while within the tool such that the microwave energy passes through the tool window to cause a dielectric heating of one or more materials within a tool cavity of the tool.

Abstract: An elastic barrier coating composition includes an aqueous dispersion of core-shell particles and an elastomeric polymer that is different from the aqueous dispersed core-shell particles. The aqueous dispersion of core-shell particles include an aqueous medium and core-shell particles dispersed in the aqueous medium. The core-shell particles have a polymeric core at least partially encapsulated by a polymeric shell in which the polymeric shell includes: (i) a barrier segment comprising aromatic groups and urethane linkages, urea linkages, or a combination thereof; and (ii) an elastomeric segment that is different from (i). The barrier segment includes at least 30 weight % of the polymeric shell based on the total solids weight of the polymeric shell. Further, the polymeric shell is covalently bonded to at least a portion of the polymeric core.

Abstract: Elastomeric articles, such as gloves, made from more than one layer, are provided. The gloves can include a first (grip side) layer in which a first colorant is compounded or integrated and a second (donning side) layer in which a second colorant is compounded or integrated. Alternatively, the gloves can include a translucent first layer and a second layer in which a colorant is compounded or integrated. Either arrangement can enable a breach of the first layer to be more easily detected, either due to the high level of contrast between the first layer and the second when a first colorant and a second colorant are utilized, or due to the translucence of the first layer as compared to the donning side layer, where the intensity of the second layer is increased upon a breach of the translucent first layer.
