Abstract:
An optical disc drive is disclosed. The optical disc drive includes a non-volatile memory storing a first program code; a memory providing a space needed when executing the first program code; and a control module determining whether to update the first program code stored in the non-volatile memory or not.
Abstract:
A detection apparatus for detecting a defect in an array of a liquid crystal display, comprises a main chamber, a stage, a detection device and a main heater. The stage is disposed in the main chamber, and the array is placed on stage. The detection device is disposed in the main chamber and detects an electrical characteristic of the array. The main heater heats the array to a first temperature to reveal the defect of the array.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for increasing the grain size of a polysilicon layer, which includes exposing a silicon oxide wafer in a deposition chamber to an amount, effective for the purpose, of nitrogen at a flow rate of at least about 240 standard liters per minute (slm). The instant invention further relates to a method for inhibiting the formation of a polysilicon seed in a furnace, which includes the treatment as noted above. The invention also relates to a method for forming a polysilicon layer, including: forming a silicon oxide layer on a substrate, the silicon oxide layer having a plurality of oxygen molecules therein; exposing the silicon oxide layer to a predetermined amount of nitrogen-containing gas in a furnace, whereby a plurality of nitrogen molecules in the nitrogen-containing gas replaces at least part of the oxygen molecules in the silicon oxide layer; and forming a polysilicon layer on the silicon oxide layer.
Abstract:
An apparatus for adjusting brightness of indicator light on a panel is provided. By employing pulse width modulated signals, one can control the amount of current flowing into the indicator light, thereby adjusting the brightness of the indicator light. The apparatus includes a control unit, which generates pulse width modulated signals in response to a user defined condition, and a switch element, which is coupled between the output end of the indicator light and the resistor for receiving the pulse width modulated signals, thereby controlling the amount of current flowing into the input end of the indicator light. One can thus obtain optimized indicating effects and visual comforts.
Abstract:
A portable data processing device capable of acquiring images and supporting human hands includes a portable data processing module and a portable image acquiring module. The portable image acquiring module for scanning a document is mounted on a side surface of a base of the portable data processing module in order to support the human hands and make an operation interface, which is installed on the base, be easily operated.
Abstract:
Method of making abrasive compositions comprised of water-insoluble abrasive polishing agents suspended in an aqueous medium in combination, which avoids the need and associated cost of dry milling the abrasive particle content, and products thereof. In particular, the abrasive compositions made by the method contain appropriately sized abrasive particles provided without the need for drying or dry milling, while also providing an abrasive composition which is Theologically stable, settling-resistant, and re-agglomeration resistant, even during and after transport and/or storage before end-use, such as incorporation into dentifrice formulations or other oral cleaning compositions.
Abstract:
Disclosed are two different approaches for immobilization of beads on a substrate, one of which involves forming a bead-nanoparticle composite by cross-linking of the bead mixture with nanoparticles. The other method involves surface modification of the substrate, using multi-layered polyelectrolytes. With either method, the beads are immobilized on the substrate in a manner suitable for viewing, as when the beads are used in assays and need to be analyzed following the assay. Different designs of depressions are also disclosed, some of which are suitable for holding beads in place without any deposition of nanoparticles or polyelectrolytes.
Abstract:
A body temperature actuated treadmill operation mode control arrangement is constructed to include two body temperature movement detection circuits respectively formed of a pyroelectric effect sensor, a resistor, and a capacitor, and adapted to detect the presence of the moving left hand or right hand of the user, a signal amplifier adapted to amplify the output signal of each body temperature movement detection circuit, and a microprocessor adapted to control the speed of the walking belt control motor and the forward/backward rotation of the tilting control motor of the treadmill subject to the output signal from the right body temperature movement detection circuits.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved treadmill which includes a massaging body suitable for massaging the soles of the feet and mounted on a base plate between a tread frame. A wear-resistant film is interposed between the walking belt and the massaging body so as to prevent the massaging body from abrasion. Accordingly, the soles of the feet are stimulated to achieve massaging effect by means of the massaging body when the operator treads on the walking belt for walking or jogging exercise.
Abstract:
A method for producing maleimides. The method comprises reacting maleic anhydride and a primary amine at 100-180° C. in an organic solvent using a solid acidic catalyst, and purifying the maleimide produced therefrom by extraction and crystallization. The molar ratio of the primary amine to maleic anhydride is about 0.8-1.6. With the present invention, high production yield with high purity of maleimides can be achieved. In addition, the solid acidic catalyst can be easily separated and recycled for subsequent use. Thus, the present invention provides a number of distinct advantages, including substantially improved yield, conveniently reusable catalyst, reduced waste disposal and lower costs.
