Abstract:
A method is disclosed for the production of peroxide-like derivatives of ozonides by ozonization of the correspoding olefins, comprising the step of placing an olefin in the presence of ozone in solution in a solvent mixture which comprises at least a nonpolar solvent (inert with respect to the olefin concerned) and at least a polar solvent, in which the as formed ozonide is reactively dissolved, a heavy weight phase being formed which contains the peroxide-like derivative. The derivative in question is removed from the reaction environment so as to substract it from superoxidation and polymerization effects.

A device for pneumatically sucking and dragging the cut ends of textile filaments and yarns traveling at high speeds includes a passage wherein filaments or yarns travel in front of a suction orifice and a related removal duct to which a subatmospheric pressure is imparted. On the other side of the passage and coaxial with the orifice a nozzle is provided to form a superatmospheric pressure air stream incident to the filaments or yarns in cooperation with the suction orifice.

AN IMPROVED METHOD FOR POLYMERIZATION OR COPOLYMERIZATION OF ACRYLONITRILE IS DISCLOSED, OF THE KIND IN WHICH THE POLYMERIZATION STEP IS CARRIED OUT WITHIN A POLAR ORGANIC SOLVENT, WHEREIN THE CATALYST SYSTEM IS OF THE SOCALLED REDOX TYPE AND COMPRISES A PEROXIDE, A REDUCING AGENT, A FIRST METAL, A SECOND METAL AND A POLYMERIZATION STOPPER WHICH IS SOLUBLE IN THE POLAR ORGANIC SOLVENT. ALSO THE METALS OR THEIR COMPOUND MUST BE SOLUBLE IN THE ORGANIC POLAR SOLVENT AFORESAID. THE METALS ARE COPPER AS A FIRST METAL AND IRON OR CERIUM AS THE SECOND METAL. THE STOPPER SHOULD ALSO BE A SEQUESTING AGENT FOR METALS. TITANIUM HYDRIDE, CARBIDE, NITRIDE, BORIDE OR PHOSPHITE ARE THE PREFERRED TITANIUM COMPOUNDS. IN ADDITION TO ACCELERATING THE POLYCONDENSATION REACTION, THE CATALYST SYSTEM OF THIS INVENTION HAS NO DETRIMENTAL EFFECT OF THE WHITENESS RATING OF THE FINISHED POLYMERS.
