    摘要: The invention provides a golf feedback system. A mat is used to determine player foot position, and a 3D golf tracking system tracks golf balls hit from the mat to determine (a) a ground ball track and (b) a player orientation axis, based on the foot position and relative to the mat. The system further determines information indicative of how well the ground ball track correlated to the orientation axis. Preferably, a golfer using the system is led through a plurality of pin target locations in a simulated golf game. The system evaluates and stores information such as slice and hook, accuracy, player orientation axis and ball carry distance such that the player can evaluate his/her game individually or against one or more other players. The invention can include a plurality of mats, each mat located at a different tee off position at one or more driving ranges, each mat providing player foot position at that mat, a 3D golf tracking system at each of the driving ranges for tracking golf balls hit from one ore more mats at the associated driving, and a web server for storing and collating player performance information (e.g., player orientation axis, slice, hook, distance information) for all golfers. This server is thereinafter accessible by persons connected to the server on the Internet to facilitate gaming and teaching uses.

The mobile interface unit includes a memory element, position interface electronics, a data processor, and a player interface. The memory element stores digitized map representations of playing fields. The position interface electronics receive position indicative signals from and external source, wherein the position indicative signals are representative of a geographical location of the mobile interface unit. The data processor couples to the memory element and to the position interface electronics and correlates the geographical location to a field location of said mobile interface unit on said playing field. The processor also determines the distance from the mobile interface unit to the first landmark. The player interface is coupled to the data process and communicates the distance between the mobile interface unit and the first landmark to the player According to a preferred embodiment, the playing field is a golf course and the first landmark is a flag location at a select hole on the golf course.

    摘要: The invention monitors the driving range and tracks golf balls from users at the driving range and informs those users of characteristics such as driving distance. A solid state camera images the range, and preferably one or more tee-off positions, and collects frames of image data to track a ball's motion through space. Simulation routines augment that track and assist in isolating the start location as well as where the ball lands, or would have landed had it not been obstructed (e.g., by a net). Preferably, the invention also determines the ball's position in 3-D to increase the accuracy. In one technique, two or more solid state cameras are used, and synchronized, to specify stereoscopic imaging. In another technique, the ball's energy or physical extent is used to determine an absolute distance between the camera and the ball. A computer at the club house monitors the entire system and further manages a network including an array of displays at the several tee off positions. The computer thus sends information such as distance to the several users via the network.

    摘要: A portable distance tracking device calculates the distance to a flag from a first position on a hole of a golf course. An initialization means initializes the device at the start of play. The device includes two rotational accelerometers, to measure acceleration along pitch and roll axes, and a translational accelerometer, to measure acceleration along a surge axis. A microprocessor, including an A-D converter, (i) converts the accelerations to digital data and (ii) integrates the data twice, over time, to determine distance traveled on the hole. The microprocessor further compensates the data for forces due to at least one of gravity, centripetal acceleration, and a rotation of earth, and thereafter determines the distance to the flag as a function of the distance traveled. A keypad input device provides for selecting the initialization and for selecting the hole in play. A memory element stores a digital representation of the hole; and a display unit displays the distance to the flag.

    摘要: A lotion such as a sunscreen includes a pH indicator which colorizes the lotion until the lotion is applied to the human skin, whereinafter the colored lotion turns clear. A physiologically compatible pH indicator such as phenolphthalein is used which has a red appearance from pH 7.5+ and which has a clear appearance from about pH 7.0 to 7.5; the general pH range of the skin. The invention is suitable for use in any lotion, gel, mousse or medication that is best applied in an even and uniform manner to the skin. Accordingly, one preferred use of the invention is in UV-protecting sunscreens so that a user can ensure even distribution of the sunscreen on the body. In certain aspects of the invention, a cap houses the pH indicator and attaches to a container of the lotion, e.g.; a sunscreen. The pH indicator mixes with the lotion as it is applied to the skin. The invention further provides methods of manufacturing sunscreens and the like with a pH indicator that turns substantially colorless upon prolonged contact with the skin.
