摘要: A control system and method utilizing a race between two responses to a changing stimulus are disclosed. An example of a changing stimulus is pressure which increases at a decreasing rate of change during a closed-in period of a drill stem test in an oil or gas well. In a preferred embodiment two components are moved in different directions, but in a net first direction, until the rate of change of the pressure is sufficiently low (e.g., near steady state), at which time the rates of movement of the two components produce net movement in a second direction. In a preferred embodiment, the change in direction of the net movement moves a control valve which communicates a pressure control signal for opening a bypass valve to commence a flow period of the drill stem test.

摘要: An appartus and method for testing characteristics of a substance, such as a cement slurry to be used within an oil or gas well, are provided. The apparatus includes a single drive motor which can be actuated in either a dynamic mode or a static mode to measure, in the preferred embodiment, either consistency or static gel strength of the substance. A single display is switchably connectible to one of two scaling circuits which scale a single transducer output signal to provide the desired measurement.

摘要: A data compressor includes circuit elements for counting the number of bytes transmitted in a binary bit stream and further includes storage circuit elements for temporarily storing each byte transmitted in the stream and the corresponding byte count of each byte. The data compressor also includes combinational logic control circuitry for detecting when one of the bits in a temporarily stored byte has a predetermined logic value and for generating a retain data control signal for signalling that the byte contains data desired to be retained.

摘要: An improved diffuser for a wellhead isolation tool which employs a combination of angles in its bore. This improvement reduces the incidence of erosion caused by the flow of fluids through the diffuser, in both the well production tubing adjacent the end of the diffuser and in the diffuser itself.

摘要: A method of maintaining a location of a wellbore servicing device includes connecting a pressure activated hold-down tool (PAHT) to the wellbore servicing device, delivering the wellbore servicing device and the PAHT into a wellbore, selectively increasing a curvature of the PAHT in response to a change in a fluid pressure, and engaging the PAHT with a feature of a wellbore to prevent longitudinal movement of the wellbore servicing device. A PAHT has pressure actuated elements that selectively provide an unactuated state in which the PAHT lies substantially along a longitudinal axis and the pressure actuated elements selectively lie increasingly deviated from the longitudinal axis in response to a change in pressure applied to the PAHT. At least one of the pressure actuated elements has a tooth configured for selective resistive engagement with a feature of the wellbore.

摘要: A method of servicing a wellbore is provided. The method comprises running a toolstring into a wellbore to a first depth, actuating a controllably rotating sub-assembly of the toolstring to rotate, and activating a pressure activated bendable sub-assembly of the toolstring to bend, wherein actuating the controllably rotating sub-assembly to rotate and activating the pressure activate bendable sub-assembly are performed in any sequence or concurrently. The method also comprises running the toolstring into the wellbore beyond the first depth and stabbing the toolstring into a window in a wall of the wellbore to enter a lateral wellbore, wherein no whipstock is used to facilitate stabbing into the window. The method further includes running the toolstring into the lateral wellbore and performing a wellbore servicing operation in the lateral wellbore.

摘要: The present invention relates to methods, systems, and apparatus for inducing fractures in a subterranean formation and more particularly to methods and apparatus to place a first fracture with a first orientation in a formation followed by a second fracture with a second angular orientation in the formation. The first and second fractures are initiated at about a fracturing location. The initiation of the first fracture is characterized by a first orientation line. The first fracture temporarily alters a stress field in the subterranean formation. The initiation of the second fracture is characterized by a second orientation line. The first orientation line and the second orientation line have an angular disposition to each other.
