摘要: The present invention relates to a blind rivet and blind rivet removal system and related method. Once set the blind rivet is not normally removed. However, increasingly removal is required due to the need to recycle automobiles. In order to remove blind rivets it has been necessary to remove the rivet flange by a variety of methods. Generally these methods were ineffective due to the resistance afforded by the mandrel and the risk of damage to the application or workpiece. Removing this unwanted swarf and debris often proved difficult. The invention provides a rivet with a stepped flange and a rivet removal tool with clips adapted to fit between the flange and surface of a workpiece so that upon relative displacement of the clips a rivet is extracted in a substantially axial direction as a single item. The invention also includes a tool and related method of blind rivet removal.

摘要: A method for identifying clusters of similar documents from among a set of documents is described. A particular document is selected based on rank from among a ranked set of documents, wherein the ranked set of documents are included among available documents of the set of documents. A probe is generated based on the particular document. The probe comprising one or more features. Documents that satisfy a similarity condition are found from among the available documents using a search based upon the probe. Some or all documents found are associated with a particular cluster of documents. The process can be repeated to generate further clusters. The method can be implemented with a computer, and associated programming instructions can be contained within a compute readable carrier.

摘要: A tissue fastening device includes a suture clip holder and a suture cutter. A suture clip can be releasably secured to the suture clip holder, and a suture line or lines can pass through the clip and adjacent the suture cutter. A first movement of a control handle causes the suture clip to be released from the suture clip holder, and a second movement of the control handle causes the suture cutter to cut the suture line or lines. The first movement is different from the second movement. The first movement can be rotational, with the second movement being longitudinal. Alternatively, the first movement can be longitudinal, with the second movement being rotational. The device may include a main body, an inner body, and an outer body.

摘要: A device and a fabrication method are provided for an EL device with a nanotip-contoured phosphor layer. The method comprises: forming a bottom electrode with nanotips; forming a phosphor layer overlying the bottom electrode, having irregularly-shaped top and bottom surfaces; and, forming a top electrode overlying the phosphor layer. The bottom electrode top surface has a nanotip contour, and the phosphor layer irregularly-shaped top and bottom surfaces have contours approximately matching the bottom electrode top surface nanotip contour. In one aspect, a contoured bottom dielectric is interposed between the bottom electrode and the phosphor layer, having top and bottoms surfaces with contours approximately matching the nanotip contour. Likewise, a top dielectric may be interposed between the top electrode and the phosphor layer, having a bottom surface with a contour approximately matching the contour of phosphor layer top surface.

摘要: Apparatus for determining the health or fitness, under an exercise load, of an animal such a horse comprises: a first sensor (incorporated in module (3) and having electrodes (5, 6)), positioned in blanket (1) under saddle (2a) of a horse, generating physiological data, e.g. breathing or heart rate, blood pressure or flow, temperature, etc; a second sensor, also incorporated in module (3), for generating position data, e.g. a GPS sensor having antenna (11). By using an algorithm, a fitness indicator such as velocity at a heart rate of 200 beats per minute (V-200) can then be derived using data from the sensors. Lameness, disease or poor physiological potential of the animal can thus be identified.

摘要: Systems, methods, and apparatus for fault detection and interruption in power lines are provided. Circuitry is implemented via software and hardware that is configured to sense an operational aspect of a power line, such as current levels in a three-phase power line, and apply signal processing to the sensed operational aspect to detect faults including different types of faults such as transient and steady state faults and can also be configured to identify the type of fault. Information on the fault and the identification of the type of fault can be displayed, stored, or some other output operation can be implemented. Circuitry can be implemented to provide digital signal processing and analog signal processing to, for example, independently and in parallel (e.g., redundant operation) detect faults and respond to faults as they occur (i.e., in real time).

摘要: To establish communication between a host and a client, electromagnetic field is generated across coils disposed in the devices. The magnetic field generated across the coil disposed in the host is used to power the client and to transfer data to the client. The data received by the client may, in turn, be used to configure the client. To receive data from the client, the coil disposed in the host is placed in a quiescent data recovery mode. The data to be transmitted from the client to the host generates variations in magnetic field formed across the client's coil. These variation, in turn, form variations in the magnetic field across the coil disposed in the host, and are subsequently decoded by the host to detect the data transmitted from the client. Supporting circuitry in both the host and client convert the electromagnetic variations into a stream of bits.
