    摘要: A method of producing a roll of an optical film laminate including a polarizing film having a thickness of 10 μm or less is described. The method includes providing a roll of a separator film-attached optical film laminate formed by subjecting a laminate comprising a continuous web of a thermoplastic resin substrate and a polyvinyl alcohol type resin layer to a 2-stage stretching consisting of a preliminary in-air stretching and an in-boric-acid-solution stretching, to reduce a thickness of the polyvinyl alcohol type resin layer to 10 μm or less. The method further includes causing a dichroic material to be absorbed in the polyvinyl alcohol type resin layer. The method further includes detecting a defect existing in the optical film laminate and the adhesive layer and upon detection of a defect, recording a position of the defect. The method further includes winding into a roll a separator film-attached optical film laminate.

The method of producing a polarizing film of the present invention includes: forming a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer 12 on a thermoplastic resin substrate 11 to produce a laminate 10; dyeing the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer 12 of the laminate 10 with iodine; stretching the laminate 10; and covering, after the dyeing and the stretching, a surface of the polyvinyl alcohol-based resin layer 12 of the laminate 10 with a cover film having a moisture permeability of 100 g/m2·24 h or less, followed by heating of the laminate 10 under the state.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate having sufficient heat resistance, without deteriorating the dye-affinity and the like of the polarizing film and without the necessity of transferring or detaching the polarizing film. Provided is a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate (10) that includes a polyester resin base (11) and a polarizing film including a polyvinyl alcohol resin laminated on the polyester resin base. The method includes the steps of; stretching a laminate that includes a polyvinyl alcohol resin layer (12) laminated on the polyester resin base (11); dyeing the polyvinyl alcohol resin layer (12); and crystallizing the polyester resin base (11). The crystallization step is performed after the dyeing step.

A polarizer produced by the production method has high transmittance and high degree of polarization.

    摘要: A polarization component, capable of efficiently reflecting an obliquely transmitted light beam toward a light source without degrading the transmission-polarization property of a perpendicular incident light beam, is provided. A C-plate having an oblique retardation of at least λ/8 with respect to a light beam inclined by at least 30° is disposed between at least two reflective circular polarizer layers whose selective reflection wavelength bands of polarized light overlapping each other. A combination of a reflective linear polarizer and a quarter wavelength plate may be used instead of the reflective circular polarizer. Alternatively, a combination of two reflective linear polarizer layers and two quarter wavelength plate layers (Nz≧2) disposed therebetween can provide a similar effect. Further, a combination of two reflective linear polarizer layers and a half wavelength plate (Nz≧1.5) disposed therebetween may be used. When reflective linear polarizer layers are used, they must be bonded together with their axial directions set at a certain angle. The polarization component is preferably used in various image display apparatuses such as liquid crystal display apparatuses and organic EL display apparatuses.
