Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to processing of peptides in urea solutions and substantial prevention of carbamylation of the peptide.
Abstract:
An above ground water storage device includes a plurality of modular walls coupled together in series to form a substantially continuous perimeter. Each of the plurality of modular walls includes a wall panel that is inclinable with respect to a horizontal orientation, and a support base that is coupled to a portion of the wall panel. A liner covers an internal side of the plurality of modular walls and an area encompassed by the continuous perimeter. At least one modular corner wall is positioned with the plurality of modular wall panels to form a corner in the substantially continuous perimeter. The at least one modular corner wall has an angled side with an angle corresponding to the inclined angle of an adjacent modular wall.
Abstract:
A Flash memory device, system, and data handling routine is detailed with a distributed erase block sector user/overhead data scheme that splits the user data and overhead data and stores them in differing associated erase blocks. The erase blocks of the Flash memory are arranged into associated erase block pairs in “super blocks” such that when user data is written to/read from the user data area of a sector of an erase block of the super block pair, the overhead data is written to/read from the overhead data area of a sector of the other associated erase block. This data splitting enhances fault tolerance and reliability of the Flash memory device.
Abstract:
A substantially transparent antistatic, impact resistant, molding composition and articles made from this composition. The composition includes a miscible mixture of a polycarbonate resin and a cycloaliphatic polyester resin, and an antistatic polymeric material wherein the mixture of the polycarbonate and the cycloaliphatic polyester resin is present in suitable proportions for substantially matching the index of refraction of the antistatic polymeric material, thereby enabling the composition, and any articles made from the composition, to be substantially transparent. The composition may be used in a variety of articles in the electrical and electronic equipment, electronic packaging, and healthcare fields, as well as others.
Abstract:
A poly(arylene ether) composition comprises a first poly(arylene ether) resin having an intrinsic viscosity greater than or equal to about 0.3 dl/g, as measured in chloroform at 25° C. and a second viscosity poly(arylene ether) resin having an intrinsic viscosity less than or equal to about 0.17 dl/g, as measured in chloroform at 25° C. wherein the composition is essentially free of plasticizers.
Abstract:
Masked and controlled ion implants, coupled with annealing or etching are used in CVD formed single crystal diamond to create structures for both optical applications, nanoelectromechanical device formation, and medical device formation. Ion implantation is employed to deliver one or more atomic species into and beneath the diamond growth surface in order to form an implanted layer with a peak concentration of atoms at a predetermined depth beneath the diamond growth surface. The composition is heated in a non-oxidizing environment under suitable conditions to cause separation of the diamond proximate the implanted layer. Further ion implants may be used in released structures to straighten or curve them as desired. Boron doping may also be utilized to create conductive diamond structures.
Abstract:
A vapor hydrated packaged catheter assembly and method of manufacturing and distributing same includes a gas impermeable package housing a catheter within a catheter-receiving cavity. The catheter assembly has a hydrophilic coating applied to at least a portion of the outer surface of a catheter tube or shaft which may be surrounded by a sleeve to provide a no-touch, sure grip feature. The catheter assembly is disposed within the catheter receiving cavity of the package together with a limited amount of a vapor donating liquid provided as a source of vapor to activate the hydrophilic coating. The amount of vapor donating liquid is less than the amount that would otherwise be sufficient to cause a spill hazard. It may be loose liquid as a desired percentage of the volume of a tube-receiving portion of the catheter receiving cavity of the package, or it may be contained in a liquid sequestering element. The activation of at least some of the hydrophilic coating occurs solely by reason of exposure of the outer surface of the catheter to a vapor produced by the vapor donating liquid. The distribution of the catheter following manufacture is delayed for a time sufficient to permit the vapor to complete hydration of the entire hydrophilic coating on the surface.

Abstract:
Method and apparatus for mating a base deck to an assembly nest are disclosed. The method incorporates use of an alignment post supported by a visco-elastic damping material and a cam controlled mechanical finger, each precluding exposure of excessive mechanical shock impacting a base deck during alignment and positioning of the base deck within an assembly nest. The method further incorporates use of a lift deck supported by a gimbal bearing mechanism. The gimbal bearing mechanism provides attitude compliance adjustment between a base deck datum surface, and a corresponding assembly nest datum surface. Attitude compliance adjustment is promoted by a gimbaling of the lift deck about a centralized spherical bearing of the gimbal bearing mechanism, which occurs subsequent to the alignment and positioning of the base deck in respective said first and second directions and during engagement of the base deck with the assembly nest.
Abstract:
A localization mechanism, or fixture, is used in conjunction with a breast coil for breast compression and for guiding a core biopsy instrument during prone biopsy procedures in both open and closed Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines. The localization fixture includes a three-dimensional Cartesian positionable guide for supporting and orienting an MRI-compatible biopsy instrument, and in particular a sleeve, to a biopsy site of suspicious tissues or lesions. A depth stop enhances accurate insertion, and prevents over-insertion or inadvertent retraction of the sleeve. The sleeve receives a probe of the MRI-compatible biopsy instrument and may contain various features to enhance its imagability, to enhance vacuum and pressure assist therethrough, and marker deployment etc.
