For displacing a lift time period, in which the drive cam opposed roller receives the opening/closing force, frontward/rearward in a direction of rotating the drive cam, an up section of a cam lift face of the drive cam is formed to be longer than a down section thereof such that a change region of a lift valve closing time point of the lift time period becomes larger than a change region of a lift valve opening time point thereof.

    摘要: There is provided a V-type engine in which banks of an engine block are offset in the same direction as the rotational direction of a crankshaft so that the banks may be displaced toward an end of a vehicle body. On the offset side, engine accessory is mounted on a side of the engine block and below the banks. The width between the end of the engine accessory to which an impact is input first among component parts of the engine block and the end of the rear bank where the engine block moved due to the impact is abutted first on a vehicle body member is set to be shorter than in a conventional engine. Therefore, the crushable zone may be increased even in a limited engine compartment.

    摘要: A valve gear for an internal combustion engine capable of promptly switching the position of a piston in a rocker arm to thereby change the engine operating condition with a satisfactory response, even in a low rotation region in which an adequate amount of oil discharged from an oil pump cannot be expected. Depending on positions of pistons slidably fitted in low-speed and high-speed cylinder portions provided in an intake driven rocker arm, a low-speed or high-speed drive rocker arm is selectively operated to press a corresponding one of the pistons. The piston in the low-speed cylinder portion switched in a low rotation region is made smaller in diameter than the piston in the high-speed cylinder portion, to be enabled to be promptly switched.
