Abstract:
A hot melt assembly for melting adhesives and sealants including a modular melt tank for housing the adhesive/sealants that is removably secured to a heating plate to allow removal of the melt tank for cleaning, repairing or replacing without removing additionally attached components. An elastic O-ring provides the necessary fluid seal between the heating plate and melt tank.
Abstract:
Disclosed is method and apparatus for distributing a chemical over the surface of a substrate. The method includes depositing the chemical on a portion of the surface of a substrate near the center of the substrate. The method further includes controlling the temperature of the surface of a substrate so that the viscosity of the chemical is calibrated to cause the chemical to be deposited on the surface of the substrate in a substantially uniform manner.
Abstract:
An apparatus for dispensing a viscous material includes a removable tank 1 and a device 10 for storing and dispensing the material, whereby the viscous material may be dispensed while an empty tank has been removed for refilling. The apparatus is useful for dispensing a hot-melt material.
Abstract:
A system usable for dispensing fluids including hot melt adhesives, supplied from a reservoir, onto a substrate. The system includes a plurality of fluid dispensing nozzles coupled to a fluid supply conduits disposed in a main manifold wherein fluid is supplied from a fluid metering device. An air preheater module is mountable to the nozzles and provides heated air for controlling the fluid dispensed by the nozzles. The main manifold includes a plurality of recirculation conduits each disposed between a fluid supply conduit and the fluid reservoir. A one-way valve disposed along each recirculation conduit conditionally recirculates fluid toward the fluid reservoir. A variety of recirculation manifold configurations are interchangeably mounted to the main manifold for recirculating fluid toward the fluid reservoir. Fluid pressure gauges monitor pressure in individual fluid supply conduits, or alternatively an average fluid pressure. The fluid metering device is mountable in a well in the main manifold, wherein a common heating member heats both the main manifold and the fluid metering device.
Abstract:
A system usable for dispensing fluids including hot melt adhesives supplied from a reservoir onto a substrate. The system includes a fluid metering device having a plurality of metered fluid outlets for supplying fluid from the reservoir, a main manifold having an end portion with plurality of fluid outlet ports coupled to corresponding metered fluid outlets of the fluid metering device, and a corresponding plurality of fluid return ports coupled to the reservoir. At least one individual fluid flow control plate having a plate fluid inlet port on a plate fluid interface is mountable on the end portion of the main manifold to couple the plate fluid inlet port of the individual fluid flow control plate to a corresponding one of the plurality of fluid outlet ports of the main manifold. The individual fluid flow control plate includes a plate fluid outlet port coupled to the plate fluid inlet port by a plate fluid flow conduit for either recirculating back to the main manifold or directing the fluid to a fluid dispensing nozzle.
Abstract:
An apparatus for surface coating or for lacquering a substrate, such as a disk-shaped substrate 2, which can be placed on a substrate carrier 14 and can be driven or given a rotating movement by means of a drive device, wherein the material or the lacquer fluid 5 to be applied is placed on the substrate 2 from a feed device 6. The fluid medium or the lacquer 4 released by the substrate support 14 is delivered at least to a first collecting reservoir 17 which is connected with at least one filter 28, from where the fluid is indirectly or directly conducted via a pump 29 to the first collecting reservoir 27, wherein an underpressure can be set between a first flow-off line 33 of the first collecting reservoir 27 and the pump 29.
Abstract:
A preparation device (10) for hot melt adhesives includes a base (20) which supports operational components (30, 40) within a housing (50), the operational components (30, 40) including a supply tank (30), a heater (32), a pump (34), a valve (36), an electric motor 38, a control unit (40), and couplings therebetween. The housing (50) includes a stationary section (52) and a movable section (54), both supported on the base (20). The movable section (54) moves horizontally from a closed housing position to an open housing position, thereby facilitating access to one or more of the operational components (30, 40) for periodic tasks such as repair, maintenance or cleaning. This overall structure for the preparation device (10) provides improved access to operational components (30, 40), and it also allows the operational components (30, 40) to be arranged closer together, thereby achieving another desirable feature of compactness in design.
Abstract:
The invention relates to containers for hot melt adhesives containing isocyanate compounds and to such containers used with heated platen dispensing equipment for the hot melt. More particularly, the invention relates to containers and dispensers for isocyanate containing adhesives that can dispense the adhesive to a use locus without generating toxic concentrations of isocyanate compounds in the environment around the dispenser. The isocyanate compounds are sealed within the containers during dispensing, preventing the generation of a toxic concentration of isocyanate in the environment or the atmosphere during dispensing operations.
Abstract:
An improved melting and dispensing apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes an annular drum extender flange which permits the apparatus to be utilized with drums of hot melt or moisture-curable hot melt materials which are completely filled.
Abstract:
A process and an apparatus for dosing and applying liquid or pasty media to an object are disclosed. A dosing apparatus filled with the liquid or pasty medium is positioned relative to the object. The dispenser-like dosing apparatus is pressurized with a pressure surge, so that the dosing apparatus plunger is displaced and the medium ejected. The filling level of the medium in the dosing apparatus is determined by means of a filling level sensor and pressurization is modified as a function of the filling level.
