    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve for controlling the amount of exhaust entering the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The EGR valve comprises a universal base so that a single base may fit many makes and models of vehicles, a diaphragm valve having two ports facing opposite directions protruding from the top of said valve, making connection of a vacuum hose to the EGR valve easier, and a back pressure transducer wherein the transducer has means to alter the vacuum required to close the valve.

    摘要: A vacuum limiting arrangement uses a three-port, two-position valve in conjunction with a vacuum sustaining valve to limit the vacuum applied to a vacuum driven device. A source of vacuum, such as engine intake manifold vacuum, is connected to one of two end ports. The device is connected to a central port, and the other end port is vented. The device can thus be connected either to the vacuum source in one position of the control valve or to vent. A control port that is effective to switch the control valve is connected into a vacuum line between the control valve and the device. The sustaining valve allows free flow of air from the device to the control valve, but only a restricted flow in the opposite direction to provide a hysterises to the system for controlling the shifting of the control valve, which is accomplished automatically as a function of the vacuum level at the device and in the control port.

    摘要: An apparatus containing a first gas chamber having a plurality of inlets is provided for collecting undesirable gaseous emissions. Each of the inlets includes a device for adjusting the flow of gas into the chamber. A second gas chamber is provided adjacent the first gas chamber and a plurality of passageways are provided between the two chambers. A regulating system is provided to control the flow of gas from the first gas chamber through each passageway to the second gas chamber in response to predetermined operating conditions of the motor. An outlet from the second gas chamber, which includes a flow adjusting element, directs the gases to an intake of the motor where the undesirable gaseous emissions can be consumed.

    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine has an exhaust gas recirculation passage, a constant pressure chamber disposed in the exhaust gas recirculation passage, a pressure regulating valve operative in response to the exhaust gas pressure in the constant pressure chamber, a first flow-rate control valve adapted to be actuated by the vacuum regulated by the pressure regulating valve so as to open and close the exhaust gas recirculating passage and a second flow-rate control valve disposed at the upstream side of the constant pressure chamber and adapted to change the cross-sectional area of the exhaust gas recirculating passage in response to the vacuum generated by the internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas recirculation system further has an atmospheric-pressure introduction passage attached to the constant pressure chamber or disposed in a pressure transmitting passage through which the constant pressure chamber is communicated with the pressure regulating valve. The atmospheric-pressure introduction valve is adapted to open in response to an increase of the level of the vacuum in the constant pressure chamber or in the pressure transmitting passage, so as to selectively introduce the atmospheric pressure.

    摘要: A spark ignition reciprocatory internal combustion engine with dual induction system is provided which has within a cylinder head a primary induction passage or a primary intake port passage to direct fluid charge into a cylinder to swirl therein and a secondary induction passage or a secondary intake port passage to direct fluid charge into the cylinder in such a direction as to impeded and reduce the swirling motion of the first fluid charge to provide a low "swirl ratio" within the cylinder, thereby to maintain the volumetric efficiency of the engine at a sufficiently high level. A primary throttle valve is provided to control the quantity of fluid charge entering into the primary induction passage and a secondary throttle valve is provided to control the quantity of fluid charge entering into the secondary induction passage. The secondary throttle valve is coordinated with the primary throttle valve so that the secondary throttle valve will remain closed until the primary throttle valve opens wider than a predetermined opening degree. Under engine operating conditions when only the primary throttle valve opens, fluid charge from the primary induction passage will swirl at a high "swirl ratio" in the range of 1.5 to 6, while, under engine operating conditions when both the primary and secondary throttle valves open, fluid charge from the secondary induction passage will impede swirling motion of fluid charge from the primary induction passage to provide a low "swirl ratio" in the range of 0.5 to 1 within the cylinder, and to maintain a high volumetric efficiency of the engine.
