摘要: An internal combustion engine assembly is provided with a fuel tank for fuel including ethanol, and a reformer for steam reforming of ethanol that is with an outlet connected to a buffer tank. A first reformer supply duct extends from the fuel tank to the reformer via a fuel evaporator that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases, for supplying ethanol vapor to the reformer. A second reformer supply duct extends from a water reservoir to the reformer via a water evaporator that is in heat exchanging contact with the exhaust gases. The reformer is in heat exchanging contact with the catalytic converter and is adapted for reforming ethanol and water into syngas including carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and for supplying the syngas via the outlet to the buffer tank. The reformer and the catalytic converter may form an integrated unit.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for selecting a location for water injection during a water injection event based on ambient temperature and humidity, as well as engine operating conditions. In one example, a method may include injecting water upstream of a charge air cooler in response to operating the cooler in heater mode and injecting water downstream of the cooler in response to operating the cooler in cooler mode. Further, the method may include operating the cooler in heater mode based on dry, cold ambient conditions and a dilution demand and operating the cooler in cooler mode based on engine boost conditions and engine knock.

摘要: An internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle may include at least one cylinder including a combustion chamber for combusting a fuel-air mixture introduced into the combustion chamber. The engine may also include at least one fuel injector and a fresh air feed. The engine may further include an exhaust gas discharge for discharging exhaust gas from the combustion chamber and an exhaust gas recirculation for recirculating the discharged exhaust gas into the combustion chamber. Additionally, the engine may include a heat exchanger arranged in the exhaust gas recirculation, the heat exchanger may include at least one first fluid path and at least one second fluid path. A knock number of the fuel may be increased when the fuel flows through the heat exchanger. The at least one second fluid path may fluidically communicate with the at least one fuel injector.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for operating a split exhaust engine system that provides blowthrough air and exhaust gas recirculation to an intake passage via a first exhaust manifold and exhaust gas to an exhaust passage via a second exhaust manifold. In one example, a method may include decreasing gas flow from the first exhaust manifold to the intake passage, upstream of a compressor, where a first set of exhaust valves are exclusively coupled to the first exhaust manifold, in response to a condition of the compressor. Further, the method may include increasing gas flow from the first exhaust manifold to an exhaust passage coupled to a second exhaust manifold coupled to a second set of exhaust valves, in response to the decreasing gas flow.

摘要: A multi-cylinder spark-ignition internal combustion engine includes a plurality of first and second intake valves disposed between the air intake system and a corresponding plurality of engine cylinders. The engine also includes a dedicated-cylinder exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system including an exhaust runner fluidly connected between exhaust valve(s) of one of the cylinders and the air intake system of the engine. A controllable intake valve activation system is configured to control openings of the plurality of first and second intake valves. A controller is operatively connected to the engine and the controllable intake valve activation system, and includes an instruction set to monitor operation of the engine, and control openings of the plurality of first intake valves and control openings of the plurality of second intake valves to generate in-cylinder mixing of a cylinder charge that achieves combustion stability for an engine speed/load operating point.

摘要: An apparatus for controlling an engine having a variable valve actuator include: an engine including a plurality of cylinders generating a driving torque by burning fuel, an intake valve selectively opened for supplying air and the fuel to the cylinders through an intake manifold, and an exhaust valve selectively opened for exhausting exhaust gas generated from the cylinders to an exhaust manifold; a variable valve actuator disposed in at least one cylinder of the plurality of cylinders and adjusting lift and duration of the intake valve or the exhaust valve; and a controller deactivating the at least one cylinder of the plurality of cylinders through the variable valve actuator according to a driving region of the engine, and recirculating the exhaust gas exhausted from the cylinders into the intake manifold through the deactivated cylinder.

摘要: An engine includes: a turbocharger including a turbine and a compressor; an EGR passage connecting an exhaust passage on an upstream side of the turbine and an air intake passage on a downstream side of the compressor; an EGR valve provided in the EGR passage; a bypass passage that bypasses the turbine; and a waste gate valve provided in the bypass passage. In the engine, when a boost pressure is increased to a limit pressure, a first boost pressure control is executed, in which the EGR valve is opened and the waste gate valve is closed. After the first boost pressure control starts, when an engine speed is increased to a prescribed value, a second boost pressure control is executed, in which the waste gate valve is opened in addition to the EGR valve.
