Abstract:
A rotating machine comprises a stationary subassembly, a rotating subassembly, and a first circumferential track. The stationary subassembly includes a plurality of stator elements disposed proximate an inner circumference of a portion of the stationary subassembly, and a casing having a first portal. The rotating subassembly includes a plurality of rotor elements disposed proximate an outer circumference of a portion of the rotating subassembly. The rotating subassembly is aligned coaxially within the stationary subassembly and is rotatable relative to the stationary subassembly without the aid of support bearings. The first circumferential track is defined by a first rotor track portion on the rotating subassembly and a first stator track portion on the stationary subassembly, and is in communication with a first portal on the casing.
Abstract:
An apparatus for converting between mechanical and electrical energy, particularly suited for use as a compact high power alternator for automotive use and “remove and replace” retrofitting of existing vehicles. The apparatus comprises a rotor with permanent magnets, a stator with a winding, and a cooling system. Mechanisms to prevent the rotor magnets from clashing with the stator by minimizing rotor displacement, and absorbing unacceptable rotor displacement are disclosed. The cooling system directs coolant flow into thermal contact with at least one of the winding and magnets, and includes at least one passageway through the stator core. Various open and closed cooling systems are described. Cooling is facilitated by, for example, loosely wrapping the winding end turns, use of an asynchronous airflow source, and/or directing coolant through conduits extending through the stator into thermal contact with the windings.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a generator having a rotor which comprises rotor excitation element-carrying modules, for example magnets, radially movable in relation to the generator shaft in such a manner, when in their retracted position, as to significantly ease generator transport and assembly. The use of these movable magnet-carrying modules is particularly useful in direct drive-type generators which do not require a multiplier. Another object of the invention is an assembly process which comprises a generator equipped with said radially movable magnet-carrying modules.
Abstract:
An improved oil composition is disclosed. The oil composition includes a base oil comprising a hydrocarbon, the base oil having a base thermal conductivity. The oil composition also includes a first additive comprising a plurality of derivatized first additive nanoparticles dispersed within the base oil to form a modified oil having a modified thermal conductivity, wherein the modified thermal conductivity is greater than the base thermal conductivity. Alternately, an improved oil composition includes a base oil comprising a hydrocarbon and a first additive comprising a plurality of derivatized first additive nanoparticles dispersed within the base oil to form a modified oil comprising a stabilized suspension of the derivatized first additive nanoparticles in the base oil.
Abstract:
A motor rotor includes an annular body and a magnetic body installed on an inner lateral surface of the annular body. The magnetic body has a first curved surface and a second curved surface opposing the first curved surface. The magnetic body props against the inner lateral surface of the annular body via the first curved surface. The first curved surface has a first curvature less than a second curvature of the second curved surface. Because the magnetic body of the motor rotor has an uneven thickness, and an air gap interval formed between the motor rotor and the stator also has an uneven width, forces applied to a region where the magnetic forces change directions are smooth. Therefore, the vibration of the whole motor is reduced, and the noises are suppressed effectively.
Abstract:
A motor, including at least a stator, including at least a stator core and a coil winding, and a rotor, including at least a rotor core and multiple permanent magnets. Multiple wire receiving grooves are disposed on the stator core. The permanent magnets are disposed on the rotor core. The ratio between the number of teeth of the wire receiving grooves and that of the permanent magnets is 3:2. Every two or three of the permanent magnets form a group of permanent magnets. A gap is disposed between adjacent groups of permanent magnets. The groups of permanent magnets are circumferentially distributed. Magnetic polarities of the permanent magnet are alternatively distributed in a N phase and a S phase. Difference in an electric angle between centers of polarities of adjacent permanent magnets in one group is between 150 degrees and 170 degrees.
Abstract:
According to the invention, a system for rotating a parabolic antenna about a central point is disclosed. The system may include a support member, a spherical structure, and at least one arm. The support member may be coupled with a surface and may also be coupled with the support member. The spherical structure may be at least partially spherical in shape about the central point. The spherical structure may include a first plurality of magnets. The at least one arm may be in proximity to the spherical structure and may also include a second plurality of magnets. The at least one arm may be coupled with the parabolic antenna, and at least a portion of the magnets in either one of, or both of, the first plurality of magnets and the second plurality of magnets may be configured to be selectively activated to rotate the arms about the central point.

A wind turbine including a bedplate, a main shaft and a direct drive generator is disclosed. The main shaft pivots relative to the bedplate by a first and second bearing. The direct drive generator includes a rotor connected to the main shaft and a stator containing a hollow part like housing substantially arranged around the rotor and containing a first endplate, a second endplate and a casing element connecting the first and the second endplate to each other. The second endplate of the stator is at least indirectly attached to the bedplate.
Abstract:
A linear motor is provided including a magnet track including a plurality of permanent magnets, and a coil assembly including a plurality of laminations. The coil assembly defines a plurality of teeth having slots therebetween. The plurality of teeth include (1) two end teeth and (2) at least one non-end tooth arranged between the two end teeth. Each of the two end teeth defines an end profile including a first surface and a second surface. The first surface and the second surface are separated by a step which is substantially perpendicular to a plane defined by the plurality of magnets. The linear motor also includes a plurality of coils at least partially disposed in at least a portion of the slots defined by the plurality of teeth.
