Abstract:
Systems and methods for intelligent data broadcasting techniques are disclosed. A data broadcasting system receives profile information representative of information desired by subscribers to the data broadcasting system. Broadcast content in one or more broadcast regions may be adjusted in response to changes in aggregate user preferences in the region.
Abstract:
Method and apparatuses for broadcasting and receiving a programme are presented. A programme is broadcast from a broadcasting system. Broadcast programme-associated data is transferred from a server to a cellular radio network. The broadcast programme-associated data is transmitted from a base station of the cellular radio network at a specific frequency defined for the cellular radio network in such a manner that the transmission of the broadcast programme-associated data is synchronized with the broadcasting of the programme. The programme and the broadcast programme-associated data is received with a subscriber terminal of the cellular radio network in such a manner that a programme receiver of the subscriber terminal receives from the broadcasting path of the broadcasting system the programme and a cellular radio network transceiver of the subscriber terminal receives the broadcast programme-associated data at a specific frequency.
Abstract:
A multiplexing digital broadcast system includes a receiving terminal; and a broadcasting station. The receiving terminal includes: a receiving side recording device demodulating a specification digital data selectively specified from a multiplexing digital data transmitted by the broadcasting station to record; a receiving side table recording a position in a data string corresponding to a data unit of the specification digital data in which a demodulation ended in failure; and a communicating device transmitting the position in the data string to the broadcasting station, and wherein the broadcasting station includes: a broadcasting station side recording device recording an original data corresponding to the multiplexing digital data; and a supplemental data transmitting device extracting the specification digital data corresponding to the position in the data string from the original data to transmit to the receiving terminal.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for delivering a stream in a mobile broadcast system that receives stream contents of broadcast services (BCAST) from a content creation and provides the broadcast services to one terminal or one group of terminals via one of a broadcast distribution system (BDS) and an interaction network. The method involves requesting assignment of a bearer in which the stream is to be delivered, assigning a bearer in response to the bearer assignment request, adapting the stream to be appropriate for the assigned bearer, and delivering the adapted stream to the terminal in the assigned bearer.
Abstract:
A system and method of tracking and reselling inventoried items is disclosed. This method includes assigning an audit code to an incoming inventoried item, wherein the audit code comprises a manual audit code and an automated audit code; auditing the incoming inventoried item to assess the incoming inventory item as such for one or more of, for example, the destruction, demanufacture, resale, recondition, storage, and redeployment; sending the incoming inventoried item to one of a redeployment, a demanufacture, a recondition, a resale, a storage, and a destruction in accordance with the auditing; manually updating the manual audit code in accordance with the auditing and the sending; providing, after the sending and the manually updating, redeployment or resale of at least a portion of the incoming inventoried item audited as suitable for at least one of demanufacture, resale, recondition, and redeployment; and, finally updating the manual audit code based upon the information provided to the system.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a secure, media exchange network and a method of securely exchanging media between electronic devices across the network. In an embodiment according to the present invention, media may be securely and simultaneously exchanged between friends, family members, business associates, government entities, military entities, law enforcement entities, and 3rd party media providers over a closed and secure media exchange network. The media may include, for example, digital video, digital audio, digital images, digital data, or any other form of digital information. Security features may include security techniques, associated security hardware, and associated security software.
Abstract:
A compact disc player unit includes has a digital radio receiver unit. A compact disc identifier along with a user identifier is transferred to a radio broadcast station. The broadcast station includes a database of compact disc information. The information associated with the compact disc identifier is retrieved from the database. The retrieved information, along with the user identifier, is broadcast by the station. The digital radio receiver unit accepts the retrieved information when accompanied by the user identifier. The accepted compact disc information is stored in a local memory unit. In response to the disc identifier and a track identifier generated by the compact disc player, data concerning an accessed disc track can be provided to the user by a visual display and/or by the speaker unit.
Abstract:
A system and method for accessing Internet-based and other information through a user television in a television distribution network enables a user to access and view information which is related to the programming content of a currently viewed television broadcast. This concept, known as channel hyperlinking, enables a television viewer to download Internet Web pages, and the like, which are related to a currently viewed advertisement, program, newscast, etc. To facilitate channel hyperlinking, each user of the system sends channel hyperlink requests through an upstream channel to a network headend by actuating a hyperlink button on a television remote control, for example. The network headend is interfaced to the Internet by means of an Internet Service Provider (ISP), and downloads HTML Web page data from the Internet to the requesting user. Each television broadcast to be linked to the Internet-based or other information is transmitted by the original broadcaster with an identification tag which identifies the Universal Resource Locator (URL) or address where the program content related information is located. The headend uses the ID tag with channel and time of request information to identify the location of the information to be downloaded to the user. Preferably, the information is pre-cached from the ISP to a headend cache in advance of the broadcast to facilitate quicker downloading of the information to the user.
Abstract:
A music piece distributing apparatus receives a request signal including music piece identification information and compressing system identification information from a receiving apparatus and transmits music piece data in which a music piece corresponding to the music piece identification information has been compressed by a compressing system corresponding to the compressing system identification information to the receiving apparatus. The request signal is transmitted through a public line. A music piece receiving apparatus receives the music piece data from the music piece distributing apparatus by a digital broadcasting receiving apparatus and decodes the received music piece data by a compression decoding system corresponding to the compressing system designated by the compressing system identification information.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a method and apparatus for broadcast distribution of messages and information. Included within the present invention are means for selectively broadcasting messages to specified locales. Further, only the appropriate receiver within that locale operates to receive the message. At the receiver, the message is transmitted to or receivable by the appropriate recipient. In the event that a message is inadvertently lost or transmitted with noise induced errors means are provided for requesting a retransmission of the message.
