In this tire, at least one tire-cord layer of organic fibers is further arranged as a flipper between the bead core and the carcass ply so that a distance between a portion of the bead core facing bead base and the carcass ply is within a range of 0.8-3.0 mm and at least 1/3 of the periphery of the bead core is covered with the tire-cord layer.
Abstract:
A process and composition for applying and bonding an amine curable polymer or prepolymer at ambient temperatures to the surface of a cured elastomer substrate. The elastomer article or substrate is treated with an organic oxidant such as an N-halohydantoin, N-haloamide, or an N-haloimide, for example, the various isomers of mono-, di-, and tri-chloroisocyanuric acid. A polyisocyanate is applied thereto. A composition of the amine curable polymer or prepolymer is prepared with an amine curing agent. To the curing agent and curable polymer or prepolymer composition is added a polar solvent which is mixed with the resulting blend or mixture and added to the treated elastomer surface; said polymer or prepolymer cures at ambient temperature and becomes bonded to said elastomer. The application is relatively easy, since the entire mixture is a liquid and can be applied in situ. The invention is particularly suitable for repairing various damaged elastomer articles such as tires (especially off-the-road), conveyor belts, hoses, preparation of caulking or sealing compounds, and especially in bonding tire lugs or tire treads to a tire carcass.
Abstract:
A compression sidewall tire reinforced for operation while deflated. A pair of junction portions connect the sidewalls and shoulders. Each of the shoulders extends axially outward and radially inward from the tread, and each of the sidewalls extends axially outward and radially outward from the mounting portions. The sidewalls are constrained against outward expansion by the rim and junction portions. The shoulders are reinforced with a plurality of circumferentially spaced ribs to resist movement toward the ground when the tire is deflated and under normal load. A circumferentially continuous rib may also be positioned on the exterior surface of each junction portion to further reinforce the tire.
Abstract:
A tire and wheel rim assembly in which the rim includes adjacent to the bead seat a circumferentially extending groove and the tire bead has a radially and axially inwardly projecting toe, the tip of which is engaged in the groove whereby the toe is flexible perpendicular to its length to allow tire fitting. However the toe is substantially rigid in the direction of its length, and is provided with an abutment means on the axially inward surface of the bead toe to contact the rim upon rotation of the bead to assist in retaining the bead at its seat.
Abstract:
A pneumatic radial tire including a tread, a pair of sidewalls, bead portions having bead wires therein and fiber cord radial carcass extending between the bead portions through the sidewalls and the tread, and a belt layer of plural metal cord layers above the carcass in the tread, the metal cords lying in radial planes of the tire. At least one rubber coated damper layer is positioned between belt plies in ends of the belt layer with cords arranged in directions substantially 90.degree. to the radial planes or 0.degree. to circumferential planes. The tire according to the invention further comprises high elastomeric rubber fillers having a 20% extension modulus of at least 30 kg/cm.sup.2 extending from the bead wires to the center zones of the sidewalls. The tire according to the invention is capable of preventing "standing waves" to thereby improve the durability of the tire for high speed travelling.

Abstract:
A pneumatic vehicle tire having a single layer radial carcass of steel or a material of similarly high strength. The carcass is anchored by being looped around the bead cores in the beads. The laterally outwardly lying free ends of the carcass layer may extend up to about half the height of the tire side walls. Laterally outwardly, next to the looped around carcass end, between the rim flange and this carcass end, there is provided a bead reinforcer which includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are parallel to one another. The bead reinforcer is slanted with regard to the carcass, preferably extending at an angle of about 15.degree. to 45.degree. to the circumferential direction of the tire. The radially outwardly lying free end of the bead reinforcer has associated therewith a strip which extends parallel to said free end and includes pull-resistant threads or the like which are arranged in a cord layer. These threads are likewise slanted with regard to the circumferential direction of the tire, preferably forming an angle of about 15.degree. to 45.degree. with the circumferential direction, but, with regard to the bead reinforcer, are oppositely slanted, i.e. cross the threads of the bead reinforcer, in such a way that the freely ending, laterally looped around carcass end forms with the bead reinforcer and this strip a triangular formation which practically maintains the mutual spacing of the carcass strength carriers and the strength carriers of the bead reinforcer.
