    摘要: A method is provided for using an aqueous suspension of at least 15% of poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO) as a flocculent. PEO is dispersed in an aqueous solution of at least one salt selected from the group consisting of sodium or potassium formate, sodium or potassium hydroxide, sodium or potassium citrate, sodium or potassium acetate, sodium chloride or mixtures thereof to form a poly(ethylene oxide) suspension having at least 15% of poly(ethylene oxide) by total weigh. This suspension is dissolved in an aqueous system; and said dissolved aqueous system is added in conjunction with a solution of a coagulant or synthetic flocculents selected from the group consisting of alum, polyaluminum chloride, sodium aluminates, polyamines, polyacrylamides, copolymers of acrylamide with cationic or anionic monomers, or polyethylene imine, to an aqueous slurry containing finely divided materials, whereby said dissolved aqueous dispersion enhances the separation of the finely divided materials from the liquid in the aqueous slurry.

    摘要: The composition comprises a water dispersible colloidal siliceous material, such as a swelling clay, in intimate association with a low molecular weight water soluble high charge density organic polymer, such as a polyacrylic acid or a polyamine, the ionicity of the siliceous material being significantly modified by the charge on the polymer. The composition may be produced by reacting the siliceous material and the organic polymer in an aqueous phase system at a concentration, for example, of from 5 to 25% by weight of the polymer on swelling clay solids. The composition is suitable for use as a retention/drainage agent in paper or paperboard production, preferably after the addition of a conventional high molecular weight flocculating agent.

    摘要: A process for improved dewatering and retention in the manufacture of paper, where a retention agent containing anionic groups and being based on a polysaccharide or being an acrylamide-based polymer and an alkaline solution of an aluminate are added to the stock containing lignocellulose-containing fibres and optionally fillers. The pH of the stock prior to the addition of the aluminate should be below about 7 to obtain the desired cationic aluminum hydroxide complexes in the stock. The present process is cost effective and insensitive to the content of calcium in the white water.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a paper-making additive.comprising a specified cationic polymer having an amidine structure. The cationic polymer additive for paper-making according to the present invention has 20 to 90% by mole of units represented by the formula (1) and/or (2): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently denote a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and X- denotes an anion; and has a reduced viscosity of 0.1 to 10 dl/g as measured in a 1N saline solution of 0.1 g/dl at 25.degree. C. The additives are excellent in improving paper or pulp properties, such as freeness, filler retention and paper strength.
