    摘要： Provided is an agglomeration for neutralizing acid mine drainage which includes a neutralizer and binder component consisting of steel slag in an amount of 75% to 95% by weight of the agglomeration, a sodium carbonate selected from the group consisting of soda ash and pulp liquor in an amount of 0.5% to 25% of the agglomeration, and, optionally, a lime component selected from the group consisting of limestone sand and slag. Further included is a dissolution control and filtration component consisting of an organic material in an amount of 0.24% to 15% by weight of the agglomeration selected from the group consisting of recycled newsprint, sphagnum peat moss, and sawdust. Next is a dispersant and neutralizer component consisting of a surfactant in an amount of 0.01% to 0.075% by weight of the agglomeration. The agglomeration may further comprise an oxidation component such as calcium peroxide, potassium permanganate, and hydrogen peroxide.

    摘要： A process for improved dewatering and retention in the manufacture of paper, where a retention agent containing anionic groups and being based on a polysaccharide or being an acrylamide-based polymer and an alkaline solution of an aluminate are added to the stock containing lignocellulose-containing fibres and optionally fillers. The pH of the stock prior to the addition of the aluminate should be below about 7 to obtain the desired cationic aluminum hydroxide complexes in the stock. The present process is cost effective and insensitive to the content of calcium in the white water.

    摘要： A smoking article such as a cigarette comprising a smoking-material rod enwrapped in a wrapper paper with an inherent air permeability of 3 to 45 Coresta units and comprising at least one hydroxide compound and at least one organic compound of the group comprising lithium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, potassium formate, sodium formate and sodium acetate, at a total loading level of the compounds of not less than two g/m.sup.2 whereby the total particulate matter (TPM) in the side-stream-smoke emanating from the lit end of said article during the smoking thereof is reduced by at least 30% in relation to the TPM which emanates from the lit end of an otherwise identical smoking article comprising conventional wrapper paper and smoked under the same smoking conditions.

    摘要： A composition of matter for the neutral sizing of paper, paperboard, cardboard and other cellulose containing materials, is disclosed comprising water; a solvent which is unlimitedly miscible with water, particularly alcohol; a compound which undergoes a basic reaction; alkali aluminate; and a sizing component. When sizing is effected with this agent, the fiber containing suspension is mixed with a retention agent, before or after the addition of the sizing agent, with the sizing agent being activated by way of neutralization.
