摘要: Surfactants based on a newly discovered class of compounds include a hydrophobic lipid oligomer covalently linked to a peptide or peptide-like chain and a carbohydrate moiety, and a serine-leucinol dipeptide linked to the lipid oligomer. Such surfactants can be used to create an oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsion by mixing together a polar component; a non-polar component; and the surfactant. Biosurfactants of the newly discovered class can be made by isolating and culturing a microorganism which produces the biosurfactant, and then isolating the biosurfactant from the culture. A microorganism can be engineered to produce biosurfactant of this newly discovered class by expressing a set of heterologous genes involved in the biosynthesis of the biosurfactant in the microorganism.

摘要: The invention provides a lubricant formulation comprising: (a) a base oil selected from API Group I to V oils and mixtures thereof; (b) 0.01 to 10 wt % on the basis of the total weight of the lubricant formulation of a friction modifier additive; and (c) other lubricant formulation additives. The friction modifier additive has a hydroxyl value in the range from 10 to 300 mg KOH/g and is the reaction product of reactants comprising: i) a dimer fatty acid; ii) a polyol; iii) optionally, a C2 to C12 dicarboxylic acid or diol; and iv) optionally, a C1 to C10 mono-carboxylic acid or mono-alcohol. The invention also provides a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine comprising a crankcase and a wet clutch and the use of a friction modifier additive.

The active is particularly effective against Malassezia yeasts and Malassezia furfur which may cause dandruff. A method of obtaining the fumagillin derivative from culturing of Peyronellaea sp. strain RKDO347 is also described.

The diester can function as an active ingredient, particularly as a conditioning agent, especially on dry hair.
