摘要: A method of manufacturing a radial aircraft tire which has a casing with a belt reinforcing structure overlying a carcass reinforced with radially extending cord reinforced plies and a tread. The tread has four main grooves extending circumferentially continuously around the tire defining five ribs. The main grooves include two inner main grooves disposed on each side of a central rib Y and two outer main grooves defining a pair of intermediate ribs between inner and outer main grooves and a pair of shoulder ribs, X, Z; in each shoulder region of said tire axially outward of an outer main groove. The invention teaches superior tread wear is achieved when the following relationships are fulfilled when the tread surface of the normally rated inflated tire under rated load contacts with a flat surface: ( XA + XD ) + ( ZA + ZD ) ( XB + XC ) + ( ZB + ZC ) = 0.5   to   1.05 . 1 ( XA + XB + XC + XD ) + ( ZA + ZB + ZC + ZD ) TotalNetArea = 0.34   to   0.75 . 2 where the contacting surface portion of the tread is divided into four equal lengths A, B, C, D at the equatorial center-plane and extending axially outwardly therefrom and the shoulder ribs X and Z are each divided into four distinct contact areas within each respective region A, B, C, D the contact areas within each respective region A, B, C, D the contact areas being XA, XB, XC and XD in rib X and ZA, ZB, ZC and ZD in rib Z. In one alternative embodiment the relationship can also be applied to a five groove tire having one main groove on the equatorial plane of the tire.

摘要: A chipper and apex subassembly 100 as an intermediate article of manufacture in a pneumatic tire has an apex strip 30 formed as a continuous elastomeric strip of unvulcanized material having a bottom base portion 31 and two opposing sides 33, 34 extending towards the narrow outer tip 32 and a chipper ply strip 40 reinforced with parallel cords oriented on a bias angle relative to the length of the strip cojoined to the apex 30 along the length of the strips and attached to one side of the unvulcanized apex strips on an outer surface. The chipper 40 is spaced from the bottom base portion 31 of the apex 30 and extends widthwise towards the narrow outer tip 32 to form a subassembly 100 of a chipper 40 and apex 30 as an intermediate article of manufacture. Additionally the subassembly 100 can be attached to bead core 12 to make a subassembly 200 as a further intermediate article of manufacture.

摘要: A cutting segment for a False Drum (100,200,300) having a cylindrical outer surface (202,306) comprises a slot (204,224,330) extending generally axially from end-to-end of the cylindrical surface, a door panel (322) having substantially the same size and shape as the slot; and a mechanism (320) for opening and closing the door panel. The mechanism for selectively opening and closing the door panel includes an elongate lever (324), one end of which supports the door panel, the other end of which is pivotally attached to a stationary portion (point) of the drum, a spring (326) extending between an inner surface of the door panel and another stationary portion of the drum; and an inflatable pneumatic tube (328) disposed between the lever and yet another stationary portion of the drum. There is thereby provided a method of supporting material overlying the cutting slot of the False Drum, by opening the slot when cutting the material, and closing the slot when not cutting the material. Importantly, after the material is cut, the door panel closes the slot so that the cut end of the material does not hang in the slot, but rather is supported, thereby ensuring reliable transfer of the material to a tire building drum.

摘要: A relaxation oscillator for a transponder capable of measuring one or more parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure) in an object and transmitting a data stream to an external reader/interrogator. The transponder typically operates in a passive mode, deriving its power from an RF interrogation signal received by an antenna system, but c=also operate in a battery-powered active mode. The transponder includes memory for storing measurements, calibration data programmable trim settings, transponder ID and the like. Measurement readings comprise counting oscillations of a measurement signal during a fixed time window. The measurement signal is generated by a relaxation oscillator driven by the alternating charging and discharging of measurement capacitors. wherein the capacitor charging rate is a function of current, and of capacitance. By using a mirror measurement current lo discharge the measurement capacitors, the discharge rate is made approximately equal to the charge rate. The measurement current can be scaled according to programmed trim settings to independently optimize readings for the different measured parameters.
