摘要: A wastewater treatment system includes a wastewater collection system, at least one aeration subsystem aerating the aerobic portion, and at least one filtration subsystem. The wastewater collection system has an anoxic portion, an aerobic portion downstream of the anoxic portion, an anaerobic portion downstream of the aerobic portion. The filtration subsystem includes at least one bioreacting filter receiving fluid from the aerobic portion, being operable to filter wastewater received from the aerobic portion, and discharging filtered fluid into the anoxic portion, an oxygen contactor fluidically connected between the aerobic portion and the at least one bioreacting filter and operable to diffuse oxygen into the fluid being supplied from the aerobic portion, and an oxygen supply operable to supply oxygen to the oxygen contactor.

摘要: An ultrasonic surgical instrument includes a shaft, a first jaw having a proximal end at the distal end of the shaft, a second jaw and an ultrasonic waveguide. The first jaw has an internal trough running through the proximal end of the first jaw and a surface on either side of the trough. The second jaw has a surface facing the surface of the first jaw. The waveguide extends beyond the shaft and slidably engages the trough and has a blade with a tissue compressing surface upwardly sloping proximally from a distal end thereof the blade and having an upper portion and a substantially horizontal top surface portion at the upper portion. The tissue compressing surface and/or the top surface portion forms a cutting surface. When the jaws compress tissue therebetween, the blade slides within the trough to further compress and cut the compressed tissue as the blade moves distally.

摘要: A method for determining a critical angle of total reflection based upon images captured at different angles of incidence of a light beam includes illuminating a sample with an excitation light beam, capturing images of at least part of the sample at a plurality of different angles of incidence of the excitation light beam, and determining a critical angle of total reflection at an interface of the sample based upon analysis of the images. An apparatus for determining a critical angle of total reflection at an interface of a sample includes a light source arrangement to illuminate a sample with an angle of incidence, an image capturing arrangement to capture an image of the sample, and a processing arrangement to determine the critical angle of total reflection at an interface of the sample on the basis of an analysis of images captured at a plurality of different angles of incidence.

摘要: A switch comprising an interior cavity and a switching element movably disposed within the interior cavity to define a first position and a second position, the second position being different from the first position. A biasing element imparts a biasing force to the switching element to place the switching element in either the first or the second position until an external force imparted to the switching element exceeds the biasing force, thereby causing the switching element to move to the other one of the first or the second position. A biasing force-adjusting element is cooperatively engaged with the biasing element, wherein a magnitude of the biasing force is adjustable using the biasing force-adjusting element. An electrically-conductive contact, coupled to the switching element, defines a first switching state when the switching element is in the first position and a second switching state when the switching element is in the second position.

摘要: A lighted display for mounting upon a vehicle having a trailer hitch receiver. The lighted display includes an elongated base member with a trailer hitch mount affixed midway along the base member. The base member also incorporates a horizontal step plate extending outward from upper edge of the base member allowing easier access to the rear of the vehicle. The base member is configured to receive multiple lighting elements within an elongated vertical channel. The lighting elements are connected to a trailer wiring plug which is configured to engage the vehicles trailer wiring connector. A message board is positioned within the vertical channel of the base member. The message board is made of a semi-translucent material which allows a portion of the light from the lighting elements to pass. The message board is partially masked with an opaque material, the unmasked portions forming the desired message for display. Upon illumination of the vehicle driving lights, one or more of the lighting elements are illuminated at the low light intensity level. Upon illumination of the vehicle brake light, one or more of the lighting elements are illuminated at the high light intensity level. And upon illumination of the vehicle turn signal light one or more of the lighting elements are illuminated at the high light intensity level in coordination with and on the corresponding side of the vehicle as the vehicle turn signal light.

摘要: A transcutaneous electrostimulation device includes an electrostimulation generator providing at an output a nerve electro stimulation signal, an electronic signal conduit conductively connected to the output of the generator, and an electrode coupler shaped to form fit an ear canal of a human ear and having at least one electrostimulation electrode. The electrode is conductively connected to the electronic signal conduit to receive the nerve electrostimulation signal and is positioned at the electrode coupler to contact tissue within an ear canal and apply the nerve electrostimulation signal to the tissue transcutaneously. An audio source outputs audio signals. The electrode coupler has a speaker receiving the audio signals for output into the ear canal when the electrode coupler is worn. The generator sends the nerve electrostimulation signal to the electrode coupler while the audio signals are output. The generator modulates the nerve electrostimulation signal based upon the audio signals.

摘要: A system for allocating communications resources for telematics communications includes a service provider, a gateway, a currently paired mobile device having at least first and second communications channels through which communication occurs to the service provider, sensing speed or acceleration of the mobile device based on internal data, detecting changes in speed or acceleration based upon the internal data, and determining that an event notification is to be sent to the service provider based upon the detected change in the speed or acceleration. A telematics device has at least a third communications channel through which communication occurs to the service provider. The telematics device and/or the mobile device determines which of the first, second, and third communications channels is to be used to communicate to the service provider and the respective one of the telematics device and the mobile device sends the event notification to the service provider.
