    摘要: A multifunctional polymer nano-composite sensor system for detecting various biosignals like ECG and other kinds of signals for sensing strain, temperature and moisture has been disclosed. This sensor system includes (1) a polymer nano-composite sensor material that is flexible, elastic, soft, and conductive, (2) a sensor material fabricated into a desired shape or form, and (3) a signal capturing interface for collecting, transmitting and processing the signals. This sensor system can easily be integrated into a user environment for various user-transparent sensing applications. The present invention more specifically reveals a multi-functional nano-composite sensor for detecting biologically generated electrical signals which is comprised of a polymeric composition having an electrically conductive wire embedded therein, wherein the polymeric composition has a dispersion phase and a dispersed phase, wherein the dispersion phase is comprised of a thermoplastic polymer or a thermoset polymer, wherein the dispersed phase includes an electrically conductive filler, wherein the polymeric composition is gel-free, and wherein the electrically conductive wire is adapted for conveying an electrical signal to a signal processing device. The present invention further discloses a polymeric composition which is comprised of a thermoplastic polyurethane, a styrenic polymer, and at least one electrically conductive filler wherein the styrenic polymer is present in the composition at a level which is within the range of 10 weight percent to 50 weight percent and wherein the electrically conductive filler is present at a level which is within the range of 0.5 weight percent to 40 weight percent, based on the total weight of the polymeric composition.

    摘要: This invention relates to a process for producing high molecular weight (HMW) and ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) acrylic polymers having unique polymer tacticity and exhibiting enhanced thermal and mechanical properties. This process comprises polymerizing ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a free radical initiator that results in a “living-like polymer” utilizing a multi-step approach. In conducting the process of this invention the “living-like polymer” is further dissolved in a liquid carrier, wherein the said liquid carrier is a reactive diluent that can be reacted subsequently by an addition polymerization process to create a block- or multi-block, copolymer or homopolymer. This process can be progressively repeated with the same or various different reactive diluents to generate desired architecture and molecular weight polymer(s) which can be used in further processing procedures to be manufactured directly into finished articles.

    摘要: A tri-block copolymer is disclosed for use in thermoplastic blends. The tri-block copolymer comprises an aromatic monomer, an olefin monomer, and a alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer. One use is for a thermoplastic polymer blend which comprises (a) at least one thermoplastic polycondensate polymer, preferably both a polycarbonate and a polyester, and (b) a combination of impact modifiers. The combination of impact modifiers comprises (i) a core/shell additive having an elastomeric core, (ii) a linear terpolymer of ethylene, alkyl (meth)acrylate, and a monomer which contains a heterocycle containing one oxygen atom as the hetero-atom, and (iii) the tri-block copolymer. A second use is the tri-block copolymer as the sole impact modifier for a blend of polycarbonate and polyester.
