Abstract:
The various embodiments disclosed herein relate to combination heart assist systems, methods, and devices that include both an electrical therapy device and a mechanical heart assist device. Various operational modes can be implemented using these embodiments, including a synchronized pacing mode, an internal CPR mode, and an internal workout mode.
Abstract:
Devices and methods allow surgical procedures to be performed on an organ without significant loss of fluid, such as, for example, surgical procedures on a beating heart. The devices include an expandable obstruction for insertion into the organ to block an opening in the tissue, and an access port with one or more conduits for accessing the interior of the organ.
Abstract:
A method for light-curing polymerizable materials to form a dental device is provided. A light-curing apparatus having at least one integrated lighting and heating source, a curing volume, and a temperature controller, preferably a fan, is used in the method. The light source and temperature controller are used to heat a first polymerizable material to temperatures within a first temperature range. A second polymerizable material is applied on or adjacent to the first polymerizable material. The light source and temperature controller are used to heat the second polymerizable material to temperatures within a second temperature range. The first temperature range has a first midpoint and the second temperature range has a second midpoint. The first midpoint temperature is at least 10° C. apart from the second midpoint temperature. The system is particularly suitable for making dental devices such as full dentures, removable partial dentures, relines of full and partial dentures, nightguards, and occlusal splints.
Abstract:
A noise-suppressing gas exhaust system for a gas delivery mask is provided. The system may include a face mask, an arm assembly, and a gas exhaust member. The face mask may be configured to interface with a subject's face. The arm assembly may be configured to support the face mask. The gas exhaust member may be coupled to the arm assembly and may include a single gas passageway extending therethrough. The gas passageway may extend from a first opening formed in a first side of the gas exhaust member to a second opening formed in a second side of the gas exhaust member. The first opening may have a cross-sectional area of about 0.01 square inches to about 0.03 square inches, and the second opening may have a substantially larger cross-sectional area than the cross-sectional area of the first opening.
Abstract:
The invention provides a low polymerization shrinkage dental composition and a polymerizable dental material selected from the group consisting of wax-like dental material that undergoes ring open polymerization. The dental composition is useful as restorative material and for making artificial teeth, dentures, restoratives, crowns and bridges of high strength dental polymeric material.
Abstract:
A system for adjusting a gas delivery mask is provided. The system may include a first housing portion, a first rim flexibly coupled to the first housing portion by a flexible member, a second housing portion coupled to the first housing portion, a second rim associated with the second housing portion, and a ball rotatably disposed between the first and second rims and having a gas passageway extending therethrough. The ball may be maintained in contact with both the first and second rims by a resiliency of the flexible member.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides intravascular ventricular assist devices for insertion into the vasculature of an individual to improve the overall blood flow of the individual. In many embodiments, the intravascular ventricular assist devices described herein provide an individual with an intravascular ventricular assist device that is sized and configured for insertion into an aortic root or pulmonary root such that its reduced size and placement provide the individual with an improved quality of life.

The intravascular ventricular assist devices described herein utilize a pump and optionally a prosthetic valve in combination with a self-expandable or balloon expandable stent or frame to allow placement within the aortic root or the pulmonary root such that a functioning valve works in combination with the pump to increase blood flow within the heart. Both intravascular left ventricular assist devices and intravascular right ventricular assist devices are within the scope of the present disclosure. Processes for implanting the intravascular ventricular assist devices are also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
The invention provides a dental composition including filler and a polymerizable dental material selected from the group consisting of wax-like polymerizable dental material and restorative paste wax polymerizable dental material. The dental composition is useful as restorative material and for making artificial teeth, crowns and bridges of high strength dental polymeric material.
Abstract:
A system for adjusting a gas delivery mask is provided. The system may include a base, an arm pivotally coupled to the base, and an intermediate member slidably coupled to both the base and the arm. The arm may include a first threaded portion, and the intermediate member may include a second threaded portion coupled to the first threaded portion. Rotation of the second threaded portion relative to the first threaded portion may slide the intermediate member along the arm and relative to the base such that the arm pivots relative to the base.
