Abstract:
A system for adjusting a gas delivery mask is provided. The system may include a first housing portion, a first rim flexibly coupled to the first housing portion by a flexible member, a second housing portion coupled to the first housing portion, a second rim associated with the second housing portion, and a ball rotatably disposed between the first and second rims and having a gas passageway extending therethrough. The ball may be maintained in contact with both the first and second rims by a resiliency of the flexible member.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides intravascular ventricular assist devices for insertion into the vasculature of an individual to improve the overall blood flow of the individual. In many embodiments, the intravascular ventricular assist devices described herein provide an individual with an intravascular ventricular assist device that is sized and configured for insertion into an aortic root or pulmonary root such that its reduced size and placement provide the individual with an improved quality of life.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods of making provisional and long-term dental restorations, particularly dental veneers, crowns and bridges. In one embodiment, the restoration can be fabricated indirectly by a dental laboratory. In another version, a dental practitioner can make the restoration chairside for a patient in a dental office. A polymerizable dental composite material, which is dimensionally shape-stable in its uncured state, is used to make the restoration. The material includes a polymerizable acrylic compound, polymerization initiator system capable of being activated by light or heat, and a filler material. The resulting dental restoration has good aesthetics, mechanical strength, and margins and contacts.
Abstract:
A system for securing a mask onto a subject's head is provided. The system may include a mask base, a mask latch, and a mask head strap. The mask base may be configured to support a gas delivery conduit for delivering gas to the subject. The mask latch may be pivotally coupled to the mask base about an axis extending generally laterally across the mask base. The mask head strap may be configured to be positioned around a subject's head and coupled to the mask latch such that rotation of the mask latch about the axis and relative to the mask base adjusts the mask head strap.
The intravascular ventricular assist devices described herein utilize a pump and optionally a prosthetic valve in combination with a self-expandable or balloon expandable stent or frame to allow placement within the aortic root or the pulmonary root such that a functioning valve works in combination with the pump to increase blood flow within the heart. Both intravascular left ventricular assist devices and intravascular right ventricular assist devices are within the scope of the present disclosure. Processes for implanting the intravascular ventricular assist devices are also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
The invention provides a dental composition including filler and a polymerizable dental material selected from the group consisting of wax-like polymerizable dental material and restorative paste wax polymerizable dental material. The dental composition is useful as restorative material and for making artificial teeth, crowns and bridges of high strength dental polymeric material.
Abstract:
A system for adjusting a gas delivery mask is provided. The system may include a base, an arm pivotally coupled to the base, and an intermediate member slidably coupled to both the base and the arm. The arm may include a first threaded portion, and the intermediate member may include a second threaded portion coupled to the first threaded portion. Rotation of the second threaded portion relative to the first threaded portion may slide the intermediate member along the arm and relative to the base such that the arm pivots relative to the base.
Abstract:
In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, an adjustable gas delivery system is provided. The system may include a face mask, an arm apparatus, and a gasket. The face mask may be configured to deliver gas to a subject, and may include a flexible cushion portion configured to interface with the subject's face and a rigid base portion configured to support the cushion portion, the rigid base portion including a gas inlet. The arm apparatus may be configured to deliver gas to the face mask. The arm apparatus may include a gas outlet having a cross-sectional area smaller than a cross-sectional area of the gas inlet of the base portion of the face mask. The gasket may couple the gas outlet of the arm apparatus with the gas inlet of the face mask. The gasket may be flexible such that the orientation of the face mask relative to the arm apparatus is adjustable.
Abstract:
Purified Frazzled proteins, including WG67-16, WG67-19 and WA628, and processes for producing them are disclosed. DNA molecules encoding the Frazzled proteins, including WG67-16, WG67-19 and WA628, are also disclosed. The proteins may be used in modulating the binding of Wnt genes to their receptor. They are useful in the modulation of cellular formation, growth, differentiation, proliferation and/or maintenance of a variety of adult and embryonic tissues and organs.
Abstract:
The various embodiments disclosed herein relate to combination heart assist systems, methods, and devices that include both an electrical therapy device and a mechanical heart assist device. Various operational modes can be implemented using these embodiments, including a synchronized pacing mode, an internal CPR mode, and an internal workout mode.
