摘要: Methods are disclosed for extracting hydrogen from a biomass compound comprising carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. The biomass may include cellulose, lignin, and/or hemicellulose. Water is combined with the compound to produce a wet form of the compound. The wet form of the compound is transferred into a reaction processing chamber. The wet form of the compound is heated within the reaction chamber such that elements of the compound dissociate and react, with one reaction product comprising hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas is processed to generate electrical power.

摘要: A platform apparatus positionable close to a surface element to allow an operator to access production tubing being withdrawn from the surface element. The platform apparatus can be positioned in close proximity to a surface element of a well to permit an operator access to production tubing and cable secured to the production tubing. The cable can be separated from the production tubing. The production tubing can be scanned with an electronic scanning device after the cable has been separated from the production tubing as the production tubing is being removed from the well. The platform apparatus can be positioned in close proximity to a surface element of a well being serviced by a pole unit to permit an operator access to production tubing. The production tubing can be scanned with an electronic scanning device as the production tubing is being removed from the well.

摘要: A spinal stabilization system includes an implant and instrumentation for stabilizing the spine. In one embodiment, the system includes a plate having a side rail and a channel extending adjacent the side rail. A pedicle screw assembly is positioned in the channel in releasable engagement with the side rail. The pedicle screw assembly includes a polyaxial screw seated in a lower housing having a lower locking flange. An upper housing having an upper locking flange secures the plate to the lower housing. The side rail of the plate is releasably engaged between the upper locking flange and the lower locking flange. The upper and lower housings include on-board locking mechanisms for fixing components in the screw assembly. The screw assembly and plate are inserted and oriented by remote manipulation. Minimally invasive techniques for inserting the implant are performed with the instrumentation, and cause minimal disturbance to surrounding tissue.

摘要: An immersible bioreactor illumination assembly is provided. An immersible bioreactor illumination assembly includes an optical waveguide with a cylindrical structure that possesses a known refractive index and causes light within the optical waveguide to longitudinally propagate through a length of the optical waveguide at a reflective angle of incidence upon meeting an inside surface of the cylindrical structure. A non-reflective surface is formed on an end of the optical waveguide for the light from an external light source propagating to that end of the optical waveguide. Diffusing structure is formed with an outer surface of the optical waveguide that alters the reflective angle of incidence. A bioreactor medium with a different refractive index than the known refractive index causes the light within the optical waveguide to diffuse at the diffusing structure through the inside surface of the optical waveguide and into the medium at a different angle of incidence.
