The device may be a receiver having a wireless interface configured to receive combined first and second signals, the first signal having data in a first frequency band and the second signal having data in a second frequency band wider than the first frequency band, wherein the first frequency band is within the second frequency band. The receiver may also be a processing system configured to recover the data in the first signal from the combined first and second signals. The device may be a transmitter having a first signal source configured to provide a first signal having data in a first frequency band; a second signal source having a second frequency band, the first frequency band being within a sub-band of the second frequency band, wherein the second signal source is configured to provide a second signal having data in the second frequency band with no data in the sub-band of the second frequency band, a processing system configured to combine the first and second signals, and a wireless interface configured to transmit the combined first and second signal.

    摘要: A system and method in which the position update rate is adaptively modified, based on previous position measurements. By adjusting the update rate based on velocity predictions from two or more position fixes, a lower update rate may be used without exceeding the maximum error. Lowering the update rate reduces power consumption in the UE, providing longer battery operation. The updating method may comprise periodically repeating the velocity prediction and periodically adjusting the update rate responsive thereto. The update rate may be adjusted using additional information such as an acceleration prediction, a minimum update rate, or a preferred error. In some embodiments a model for user movement may be used to provide more accurate predictions, for example, stationary, walking, jogging, city driving, and freeway driving. The updating method may comprise receiving user input regarding the maximum position error.

    摘要: Techniques for “strapping” a primary conductor with a secondary conductor in an integrated circuit (IC). The IC includes a number of circuit elements interconnected by a secondary conductor through a number of vias disposed at a number of locations for coupling the circuit elements as an alternative to a primary conductor. The primary conductor is typically formed with a low loss metal (e.g., copper or copper alloy), and the secondary conductor is typically formed with a lossy metal (e.g., aluminum or aluminum alloy) relative to the low loss metal. The secondary conductor is strapped to the primary conductor by the vias, which may be disposed only at both ends or along the entire length of the secondary conductor. The secondary conductor is formed using design guidelines such that it provides the required electrical connectivity when the primary conductor is not present but minimally interferes with the RF performance of the primary conductor.

    摘要: A balanced power amplifier circuit arrangement comprises a driver amplifier stage (22) adapted to receive and amplify a signal. The amplified signal is input to a first coupler (26). The first coupler (26) produces an in-phase signal and an out-of-phase quadrature signal. A first power amplifier (38) receives and amplifies the in-phase signal. A second power amplifier (40) receives and amplifies the out-of-phase signal. A first switch (28) alternately connects an isolated port of the first coupler to ground (32) or a bypass path (36). A second coupler (42) receives and combines the amplified in-phase signal and the amplified out-of-phase signal to produce a combined signal. A second switch (30) alternately connects an isolated port of the second coupler (42) to either ground (34) or the bypass path (36). When the power amplifiers (38, 40) are powered down, the first coupler (26) splits the RF-signal into an in-phase signal and an out-of-phase signal. The power amplifiers (38, 40) appear as reflective impedances to the signal when they are powered down. Each signal reflects off the first and second power amplifiers (38, 40), respectively. The first coupler (26) combines the reflected signals and routes the combined signal through the bypass path (36) to the second coupler (42). The second coupler (42) splits the signal into an in-phase and out-of-phase signal and routes each to the power amplifiers (38, 40). The power amplifiers (38, 40) reflect each signal back to the second coupler (42). The second coupler (42) combines the signals and routes the combined signal to the RF-output port. The circuit arrangement enables the integration of the balanced amplifier and first and second couplers (26, 42) into a single power amplifier package to provide low power bypassing without the need of an external circulator component.

    摘要: A low-power diversity receiver includes at least two receive paths, each of which is designated as a primary or secondary receive path. A primary receive path is compliant with system requirements (e.g., IS-98D requirements). A secondary receive path is not fully compliant with the system requirements and is designed for lower power, less area, and lower cost than the primary receive path. For a multi-antenna receiver, the two receive paths may be used to simultaneously process two received signals from two antennas. For a single-antenna receiver, either the primary or secondary receive path is selected, e.g., depending on whether or not large amplitude “jammers” are detected, to process a single input signal from one antenna. The receiver may include additional receive paths for additional frequency bands and/or GPS.

    摘要: A tunable multi-band receiver supporting operation on a plurality of frequency bands is disclosed. In an exemplary design, the tunable multi-band receiver includes an antenna tuning network, a tunable notch filter, and at least one low noise amplifier (LNA). The antenna tuning network tunes an antenna (e.g., a diversity antenna) to a receive band in a plurality of receive bands. The tunable notch filter is tunable to a transmit band in a plurality of transmit bands and attenuates signal components in the transmit band. One LNA among the at least one LNA amplifies an output signal from the tunable notch filter. The tunable multi-band receiver may further include one or more additional tunable notch filters to further attenuate the signal components in the transmit band.
