    摘要: The medical puncturing device includes an actuator, a shield, and a skin puncturing assembly. The actuator and shield are movable relative to one another. The skin-puncturing assembly includes a carrier and a skin-puncturing element. A distal end of the skin puncturing element is adapted for puncturing the skin of a patient. The carrier is movable from a retracted position wherein the distal end of the skin-puncturing element is disposed within the shield to a puncturing position wherein the distal end of the skin-puncturing element is exposed to puncture the skin of a patient. The carrier is maintained in the retracted position by interference engagement between the carrier and shield. A drive spring is provided to move the carrier from the retracted to puncturing positions. A retraction spring is provided to return the carrier to a position wherein the shield encompasses the skin puncturing element.

    摘要: A surgical portal assembly includes a portal member defining a longitudinal axis and having a longitudinal passageway for passage of a surgical object, and being dimensioned to pass through tissue to provide access via the longitudinal passageway to an underlying operative site and a plurality of object seals in mechanical cooperation with the portal member and positioned to intersect the longitudinal passageway. Each object seal has inner surfaces defining a seal passage to permit passage of the surgical object. The inner seal surfaces of each object seal include a primary finger segment and secondary finger segments on opposed sides of, and in spaced relation to, the primary finger segments. The primary finger segment and the secondary finger segments depend inwardly relative to the seal passage with adjacent object seals being angularly displaced relative to each other through an arc of rotation about the longitudinal axis whereby the primary finger segments and the secondary finger segments of respective object seals at least partially overlap and cooperate to establish a substantial sealed relation with the surgical object. The object seals may each include a tertiary finger segment on opposed sides of, and in spaced relation to, the secondary finger segments.

    摘要: Provided is an endoscopic suturing system for joining internal body tissues in a variety of procedures. The system comprises a suturing capsule releasably mountable to the distal end of an endoscope and capable of forming multiple stitches in tissue at a plurality of locations without requiring withdrawal of the capsule from the patient between stitches. Also enclosed is a suture lock to secure the placed stitch that is delivered by a device introduced through the working channel of the indwelling endoscope. Suitable control handles for the suturing capsule and for the suture lock delivery device positioned at the proximal end of the endoscope are provided to facilitate operation by the user.
