摘要: Embodiments may include an expandable access system having contracted and expanded configurations. The system and methods may include an expandable access device having a helix or wrapped shape. Embodiments may include a cannula, stent, needle, trocar, introducer, fastener, and/or any other devices disclosed herein. Embodiments may also include an expandable trocar positionable in at least a portion of the access device. A sleeve or band may be disposed over at least a portion of the access device and configured to resist radial expansion of the access device. Expansion of the trocar and/or receipt of an object may radially expand the access device between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration.

摘要: An adaptor apparatus comprises a seal assembly housing, a channel, and tapered surfaces. The adaptor apparatus is configured to connect a trocar seal assembly with a robotic trocar cannula and maintain pneumostasis in an insufflated body cavity of a patient. The seal assembly housing comprises an open area sufficient to receive, support, and fix the trocar seal assembly within the adaptor apparatus. The channel provides a pathway for inserting instruments from the trocar seal assembly and into the cannula. The robotic trocar cannula includes an annular flange and a tapered proximal opening. The tapered surfaces of the adaptor apparatus are configured to engage the annular flange and the tapered proximal opening of the cannula. The tapered surfaces of the adaptor apparatus are configured to complement the exterior of the annular flange and the angled opening of the cannula.

摘要: A surgical access port for passage through body tissue to provide access to an underlying tissue site is provided. The access port has a working channel dimensioned for receiving a surgical instrument and a seal assembly for providing a substantial seal before, during and after insertion of a surgical instrument. The seal assembly includes an instrument seal and a zero seal. The instrument seal includes a proximal base that is interconnected to a distal instrument engaging portion by an elongate supporting portion. The engaging portion has a lateral dimension larger than the lateral dimension of the supporting portion forming a bulbous, mushroom-like head. The lateral dimension of the engaging portion decreases toward a distal opening of the instrument seal such that the distal end of the engaging portion is substantially perpendicular to the seal axis. The supporting portion closely conforms to an inserted instrument and serves to align the distal end of the seal.

摘要: A method for cleaning a port reservoir, the method comprising: providing a port reservoir cleaning system, the system comprising: a trocar comprising a proximal end and distal end, the distal end terminating in a sharp tip, a cannula comprising a proximal end, a distal end and a cannula lumen extending therebetween, and a cleaning member comprising a proximal end, a distal end, a shaft and a cleaning member lumen extending therebetween, wherein a portion of the distal end of the shaft is flexible; advancing the trocar and cannula as an assembly through a septum fluidly sealing the port reservoir; withdrawing the trocar from the cannula lumen; advancing the distal end of the cleaning member through the cannula lumen and into the reservoir; rotating the cleaning member; and supplying negative pressure to a lumen of the cleaning member.
