摘要:
A finger receptacle having an elongated, flexible sleeve having a length defined between a proximal end and a distal end, the sleeve further comprising a support base, a ceiling and a top surface defining a longitudinal axis X, whereby the sleeve is adapted to bias toward a radially contracted state and when urged into a radially expanded state effects a radial compression action about the length to releasably secure a finger within the receptacle; and at least one angled projection extending from the ceiling and top surface at the distal end of the sleeve, the at least one angled projection angled inwardly from the longitudinal axis X of the ceiling and adapted to contact a nail of the finger releasably secured in the sleeve at the distal end of the receptacle to effect a second compression action. The invention further related to devices of blood capture and blood collection and those that incorporate said receptacle or a finger compression sleeve.

A body fluid sampling device (100) provides a user with the ability to sample and/or analyze a fluid in the body (body fluid) such as blood, puss or venom. The device (100) includes at least: a body fluid reservoir for containing the sampled body fluid and a fluid extraction mechanism including at least one conduit or needle connected to a conduit injection and retraction mechanism and a vacuum reservoir. After connecting the body fluid reservoir to the sampling device, a vacuum seal of the body fluid reservoir is adapted to be broken so as to cause the sucking of the body fluid into the body fluid reservoir. The sampling device (100) aids in executing a method (200) of the invention consisting of collecting body fluid such as capillary blood samples without the intervention of medically trained personnel. The sampling device (100) enables the user to: (a) sample a body fluid, optionally auto-sampling; (b) optionally, using one or more droplet(s) of the sampled body fluid, to immediately analyze the body fluid; and (c) provide a medical analysis tube (4000) meeting size and interface standards filled with the sampled body fluid for analysis in a point of care or medical lab. The sampling device includes a vacuum tube and an interface therefor. The vacuum tube provides the suction necessary to draw the body fluid from the user/patient and to fill the vacuum tube with the body fluid.

A biological fluid separation device that is adapted to receive a multi-component blood sample is disclosed. After collecting the blood sample, the biological fluid separation device is able to separate a plasma portion from a cellular portion. After separation, the biological fluid separation device is able to transfer the plasma portion of the blood sample to a point-of-care testing device. The biological fluid separation device of the present disclosure also provides a closed separation and transfer system that reduces the exposure of a blood sample and provides fast mixing of a blood sample with a sample stabilizer. The biological fluid separation device is engageable with a blood testing device for closed transfer of a portion of the plasma portion from the biological fluid separation device to the blood testing device. The blood testing device is adapted to receive the plasma portion to analyze the blood sample and obtain test results.

The invention relates to a lancet for performing an incision. The lancet has a blade for providing an incision and a trigger housed in a housing. The trigger has a first trigger arm, a second trigger arm and a flexible member connected to the second trigger arm. A resilient member may be disposed within the housing in a pre-cutting state in which it stores energy and arranged to exert a force for moving the second trigger arm and the blade from a first stowed position through a cutting position and to a second stowed position.

A region of skin, other than the fingertips, is stimulated. After stimulation, an opening is created in the skin (e.g., by lancing the skin) to cause a flow of body fluid from the region. At least a portion of this body fluid is transported to a testing device where the concentration of analyte (e.g., glucose) in the body fluid is then determined. It is found that the stimulation of the skin provides results that are generally closer to the results of measurements from the fingertips, the traditional site for obtaining body fluid for analyte testing.

A biological fluid sampling device adapted to receive a blood sample and includes a housing having a reservoir disposed therein and a first cavity in fluid communication with the reservoir is disclosed. The biological fluid sampling device includes a first test element removably receivable within the first cavity and a lancet having a puncturing element. Additionally, the housing may include a second cavity in fluid communication with the reservoir and a second test element removably receivable within the second cavity. With the blood sample received within the reservoir of the biological fluid sampling device, the first test element and the second test element are adapted to receive a portion of the blood sample. In this manner, the biological fluid sampling device allows for a blood sample to be collected on a plurality of test elements simultaneously. In one embodiment, the biological fluid sampling device contains a sample stabilizer.

The present invention generally relates to devices and techniques associated with diagnostics, therapies, and other applications, including skin-associated applications, for example, devices for delivering and/or withdrawing fluid from subjects, e.g., through the skin. In some embodiments, the device includes a system for accessing an extractable medium from and/or through the skin of the subject at an access site, and a pressure regulator supported by a support structure, able to create a pressure differential across the skin at at least a portion of the access site. The device may also include, in some cases, a sensor supported by the support structure for determining at least one condition of the extractable medium from the subject, and optionally a signal generator supported by the support structure for generating a signal relating to the condition of the medium determined by the sensor.

A contact activated incision device, comprises a housing defining a cavity, and a longitudinal axis extends between a proximal end and a distal end of the housing. A slider is slidable with respect to the housing along the longitudinal axis and at least partially positioned outside of the housing. A roller is mounted on the housing and rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A blade assembly is mounted on the roller and has a blade, wherein the blade is movable from a retracted position to an extended position and to a final position, at the retracted position the blade is positioned in the cavity, at the extended position the blade extends at least partially beyond the proximal end of the housing, and at the final position the blade is positioned in the cavity.
