    摘要: Catalysts comprising cobalt on a titania support are produced by mixing together particles of a solid titania support and an aqueous solution of cobalt ammine carbonate, and heating to an elevated temperature sufficient to effect decomposition of the cobalt ammine carbonate and precipitation of a cobalt species onto said support. The catalysts are useful in hydrogenation and Fischer-Tropsch reactions.

    摘要: A method of manufacturing a cobalt catalyst is described, which comprises the steps of forming an aqueous solution of a cobalt amine complex, oxidising said solution such that the concentration of Co(III) in the oxidised solution is greater than the concentration of Co(III) in the un-oxidized solution, and then decomposing the cobalt amine complex by heating the solution to a temperature between 80 and 110° C. for sufficient time to allow an insoluble cobalt compound to precipitate out of the solution. A catalyst intermediate is also described which comprises a cobalt compound, comprising a Co(II)/Co(III) hydrotalcite phase and a CO3O4 cobalt spine) phase, wherein the ratio of cobalt hydrotalcite phase: cobalt spine) phase is less than 0.6:1, said cobalt hydrotalcite phase and said cobalt spine) phase being measured by X-ray diffractometry.

    摘要: A catalyst including cobalt, zinc oxide and aluminium is described, having a total cobalt content of 15-75% by weight (on reduced catalyst), an aluminium content ≧10% by weight (based on ZnO) and which when reduced at 425° C., has a cobalt surface area as measured by hydrogen chemisorption at 150° C. of at least 20 m2/g cobalt. A method for preparing the catalyst is also described including combining a solution of cobalt, zinc and aluminium with an alkaline solution to effect co-precipitation of a cobalt-zinc-aluminium composition from the combined solutions, separating of the co-precipitated composition form the combined solutions, heating the composition to form an oxide composition, and optionally reducing at least a portion of the cobalt to cobalt metal. The catalysts may be used for hydrogenation reactions and for the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis of hydrocarbons.

    摘要: Copper/alumina compositions for uses as e.g. catalysts are made by impregnating a porous transition alumina support with an aqueous solution of a copper ammine carbonate complex, draining off any excess of the impregnating solution, and then heating the impregnated support to a temperature above 80° C. to decompose the complex thereby depositing a basic copper carbonate compound on the surfaces of the pores of transition alumina support. After reduction, the composition has a high copper surface area, expressed per unit weight of copper in the composition.

    摘要: A particulate catalyst suitable for the hydrogenation of fats or oils containing 5 to 75% by weight of nickel may be made by slurrying a transition alumina powder having a surface-weighted mean diameter D[3,2] in the range 1 &mgr;m to 20 &mgr;m with an aqueous solution of a nickel ammine complex, followed by heating to deposit an insoluble nickel compound and then reducing the latter. Catalysts containing up to about 55% by weight of nickel have a nickel surface area above 130 m2/g of nickel. Catalysts having greater nickel contents made using alumina having an average pore diameter above 12 &mgr;m may have a lower nickel surface area but are surprisingly active and selective.
