Abstract:
In certain embodiments, a system includes a belt for mechanically linking multiple energy storage cells together, wherein the multiple energy storage cells are grouped into at least first and second energy storage packs, each energy storage pack including at least one energy storage cell, the at least one energy storage cell of the first energy storage pack having a different energy storage characteristic from the at least one energy storage cell of the second energy storage pack. The system further includes an operational zone for receiving an energy storage pack and establishing an electrical connection between the received energy storage pack and an electrical device, and an actuator operable to move the multiple energy storage cells together to thereby dispose the first energy storage pack in the operational zone to establish the electrical connection with the electrical device.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a system for deploying batteries, for example in an electric vehicle, includes a battery belt for mechanically linking multiple batteries together, a conduit having one or more operational zones each with an output, the operational zones each establishing an electrical connection between the output and batteries in the operational zone, and an actuator for selectively moving batteries into and out of the operational zones. Resting zones may also be provided. The batteries can be connected in series or in parallel and can be individually removed and replaced by an exchanger.

Abstract:
A plastic article having a thickness of about 2 mm to about 3.2 mm is disclosed. The article is formed from a thermoplastic composition that includes a first polymer that is a polycarbonate, a second polymer that is a polyphthalatecarbonate, a perfluoroakyl sulfonate salt; and a cyclic siloxane compound. The thermoplastic has a light transmittance at a thickness of 3.2 mm of at least 86% according to ASTM D1003-11E1, a UL94 flammability rating of V0, a notched Izod impact strength at a thickness of 3.2 mm of at least 500 J/m according to ASTM D256-05 with a 2.27 kg weight at a, and a heat deflection temperature at a thickness of 3.2 mm of at least 160° C. according to ASTM D648-06 under a load of 0.45 MPa.
Abstract:
A multi-band low-profile, low-volume two-way mobile panel array antenna system is described. Operation of the antenna may automatically switch between bands based on various user-entered parameters.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for producing compositions comprising a monoamine-endcapped polyimide component. Based on a gas chromatography mass spectroscopy analysis of a surface rinse of the composition performed at room temperature, the composition can have at least one surface with less than or equal to 5 ppb releasable phosphorous residuals, and less than or equal to 5 ppb releasable volatile organic compound residuals. The composition can also comprise less than or equal to 10 ppb combined releasable residuals. Because of the very low levels of residual contamination, the compositions can be used to produce a variety of articles, including a disk drive.
Abstract:
A heated fuel injector system and controller that includes a temperature sensing means to provide closed-loop control of a heating element heating fuel dispensed by a heated fuel injector. Closed-loop control provides more accurate temperature control of the heating element so that fuel heating is provided as quickly as possible while also protecting the fuel from being boiled and protecting the heated fuel injector from being damaged by excessive temperature. By monitoring how the signal from the temperature sensing means varies over time, fault conditions such as a lack of fuel flow, and fuel ethanol percentage may be detected.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to systems, apparatus, methods and procedures for the noninvasive treatment of tissue using microwave energy. In one embodiment of the invention a medical device and associated apparatus and procedures are used to treat dermatological conditions using microwave energy.
Abstract:
An tissue interface module has an applicator chamber on a proximal side of the tissue interface module and a tissue acquisition chamber on a distal side of the tissue interface module. The applicator chamber may include: an opening adapted to receive the applicator; an attachment mechanism positioned in the applicator chamber and adapted to attach the tissue interface module to the applicator; a sealing member positioned at a proximal side of the applicator chamber; and a vacuum interface positioned at a proximal side of the applicator chamber and adapted to receive a vacuum inlet positioned on a distal end of the applicator. The invention also includes corresponding methods.
