摘要:
The invention relates to medical balloons, and methods of modifying said balloons by forming a void pattern in their exterior surfaces and filling the voids with a material, such as a fiber or a nanomaterial (e.g., nanotubes, such as carbon nanotubes) and a matrix material, e.g., a polymer.
摘要:
Articles such as catheters or balloons that have an ester-linked poly(ester-block-amide) substrate have a lubricious hydrogel coating which suppresses particle development under accelerated aging conditions. A polymerizable coating composition is applied to the substrate without application of an intervening primer layer and cured. The coating composition comprises an uncrosslinked polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer that is free of attached photoinitiator groups and at least one polyfunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer.

A method of making a flexible, durable catheter tip is achieved by providing a catheter tip, and in some embodiments, applying heat energy only to the distal portion of a catheter tip. In other embodiments, the method includes ablating a portion of the outer diameter of the proximal region material. In at least one embodiment, the method includes manufacturing a catheter tip with a layer of a harder material disposed about a first layer of a relatively softer material and then ablating at least a portion of the harder material. In some embodiments, the method includes dipping at least a portion of the distal region of the catheter tip into a chemical bath. In some embodiments, the method includes providing a catheter tip made of a tip material, adding a curable adhesive to at least a portion of the distal region, and then applying heat energy to cure the curable adhesive.
摘要:
A method for forming a balloon for a dilatation catheter involving the steps of extruding a segment of thermoplastic material, maintaining the center portion at a temperature below the glass transition of the thermoplastic material, drawing the segment to a predetermined length, wherein after the drawing the wall thickness of the center portion does not appreciably change, and expanding the segment in a mold to produce the balloon.
摘要:
An expandable medical balloon including an inner layer formed of a poly(ether-block-amide) copolymer and an outer layer formed of a polyamide, the expandable medical balloon having a burst strength of greater than 50,000 psi, and to methods of making and using the same.

摘要:
A tubular member comprises a balloon having a body portion positioned between a first end and a second end. The body portion is constructed from an extruded matrix material and at least one stripe of a second extruded material. The at least one stripe is at least partially disposed within the matrix material. The proximal end and the distal end are constructed from the matrix material.
