    摘要: Aqueous acidic chromate coating solutions are described for treating zinc, zinc alloy, or cadmium surfaces comprising trivalent chromium as substantially the only chromium ion present, fluoride ion and an acid, the trivalent chromium ions comprising a mixture of green and blue trivalent chromium. One method of preparing the green trivalent chromium is by reducing an aqueous solution of hexavalent chromium with sufficient reducing agent to reduce all of the hexavalent chromium to trivalent chromium.     摘要: There is disclosed a water-reducible, chromium-free coating composition for providing corrosion protection to a substrate, such as a metal substrate. The deposited coating film is corrosion-resistant and for coated articles which are threaded, e.g., steel fasteners, the coating provides a non-thread-filling coating. The coating composition contains particulate metal, such as particulate zinc or aluminum. Although substituents can be separately packaged, the composition is virtually always a one-package coating composition. The composition contains water-reducible organofunctional silane, particularly an epoxy functional silane, as a binding agent. The composition has highly desirable, extended shelf life. The composition can be easily applied in the usual manner, such as dip-drain or dip-spin technique, and readily cures at elevated temperature.

    摘要: A coating composition is now provided which can have a great number of desirable coating characteristics, when the composition is applied and cured on a metal substrate. Moreover, the coating composition has applicability to a great variety of metal substrates. Such substrates include base metal such as steel as well as metal coated substrates such as zinc electroplated steel. Furthermore, the coating compositions can be useful when applied to substrates sensitive to elevated cure temperature, e.g., annealed steel. In one important aspect the composition can contain hexavalent-chromium-providing substance in mixture with cobalt compound. Particulate metal may be present in the composition. A composition furthermore most desirably contains a special organic acid/alcohol reducing agent combination for the hexavalent chromium. The composition can provide a low-cure coating on a metal substrate, which can then translate into higher production line speeds as when used for coating of metal coils.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an improved method of preparing titanium-containing phosphate conditioners useful in cleaning and activating the surface of ferrous, zinc or aluminum metal and alloys thereof for subsequent reaction with phosphate coating solutions. The method comprises the steps of(a) preparing a mixture consisting essentially of water, sodium tripolyphosphate, disodium phosphate and a titanium-containing compound and(b) adding said mixture to solid disodium phosphate with mixing whereby a solid titanium phosphate composition is obtained.The invention provides a method for forming a dry activating composition which does not require the application of any energy such as heat to the material. When the solid titanium phosphate compound is dissolved in water to form pretreatment solutions it can be employed successfully for activating metal surfaces in preparation for reaction with phosphate coating solutions.
