摘要: A propeller shaft (1) that is a power transmission shaft has a shaft member (2) as a tubular body made of iron-based metal and a balance weight (3) made of iron-based metal and welded to an outer peripheral surface of this shaft member (2). At least a part of the balance weight (3) of the propeller shaft (1) is covered with a sacrificial metal coating (4) made of sacrificial corrosion prevention material that contains metal whose ionization tendency is higher than that of metal forming the shaft member (2). With this, it is possible to suppress local progression of corrosion at a periphery of the balance weight (3) and improve durability of the propeller shaft (1).

摘要: Thermal Marine Coating System is a bio-inhibitor for a water immersive surface including and not limited to a ship hull, off-shore windmill, buoy, and/or any other aquatic object. The bio-inhibiting action repels micro and macro organisms thereby preventing attachment to a vessel or other aquatic object immersed in seawater and/or freshwater. The coating matrix comprises waxes and a metallic soap very slowly and continuously agitated at constant temperature from blending of ingredients through application onto prepared substrate. The integrity of the matrix is non-porous and long lasting.

摘要: One or more techniques are disclosed for a method for functionalized a graphitic material comprising the steps of: 1) providing a graphitic material; 2) providing a first molecule comprising a first group, a spacer, and a second group; 3) providing a second molecule comprising a third group, a spacer, and a fourth group, wherein the third group is a different group from the first group; and 4) bonding the first molecule and the second molecule to the graphitic material. Also disclosed is a tunable material composition comprising the functionalized carbon nanotubes or functionalized graphene prepared by the methods described herein.

摘要: A solid surface comprises (i) from 45 to 80 volume fraction percent of polymethylmethacrylate or unsaturated polyester or a combination of both, (ii) from 25 to 55 volume fraction percent of inorganic filler particles distributed evenly throughout the solid surface, and (iii) from 0.75 to 8 volume fraction percent of a siloxane fluid, wherein, when the filler has a major dimension of from 30-50 micrometers, the siloxane has a molecular weight of from 40,000 to 150,000 or when the filler has a major dimension of from 10-15 micrometers, the siloxane has a molecular weight of from 25,000 to 100,000 or when or when the filler has a major dimension of from 1-10 micrometers, the siloxane has a molecular weight of from 5,000 to 100,000.

摘要: A method for increasing corrosion resistance of metallic substrates without use of hexavalent chromium includes chemically treating the substrate to create an oxide layer, mixing graphene nanoplatelets into a non-chromate epoxy-based primer, applying the primer to the oxide layer of the substrate, and applying a topcoat to the primer opposite the oxide layer.

摘要: A corrosion resistant coating composition for a metal substrate is disclosed. The metal substrate, such as carbon steel, is coated with a first layer comprising a phosphate corrosion inhibitor, such as sodium phosphate monobasic (NaH2PO4) and a second layer comprising nickel nanoparticles. In addition, an electrodeposition method for the production of the coating composition is disclosed that uses either pulse or direct current electrodeposition to form the coating composition of desired anticorrosive properties. In addition, a coated metal substrate and method for inhibiting corrosion of a metal substrate that apply the corrosion resistant coating composition in any of its embodiments are disclosed.

摘要: Provided are a surface-treated metal sheet excellent in the adhesiveness to a coating treatment film and weldability and a coated member. The surface-treated metal sheet includes a metal sheet and a coating film placed on at least one major surface of the metal sheet; the coating film contains oxide particles, a binder resin, and electrically conductive particles; the amount of electrically conductive particles contained is 5 to 30 mass % relative to the coating film; the oxide particles include non-doped oxide particles and/or doped oxide particles; the non-doped oxide particles include at least one kind selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide particles, tin oxide particles, magnesium oxide particles, calcium oxide particles, and strontium oxide particles; the doped oxide particles include at least one kind selected from the group consisting of doped zinc oxide particles and doped tin oxide particles; the amount of oxide particles contained is 1 to 30 mass %, but is 1 to 10 mass % relative to the coating film in the case of not including doped oxide particles; and the amount of the coating film attached to the major surface is 2 to 20 g/m2.
