    摘要： A brachytherapy treatment apparatus is provided that includes a center catheter including proximal and distal ends defining a central longitudinal axis therebetween, the center catheter including a bend between the proximal and distal ends. The apparatus includes a pair of expandable catheters including pathways extending between the proximal and distal ends thereof, the expandable catheter distal ends coupled to the distal end of the core member. An actuator is coupled to the expandable catheters adjacent expandable portions that is movable relative to the center catheter for moving the expandable portions between a collapsed configuration wherein the expandable portions extend substantially parallel to the center catheter and an expanded configuration wherein the expandable portions bow away from one another substantially within a curved plane aligned generally with a bend of to the center catheter. A balloon is provided adjacent the expandable portions and surrounding a portion of the catheters.

    摘要： An applicator for delivering brachytherapy includes elongate members movable between collapsed and expanded configurations for delivering brachytherapy within a lumpectomy cavity, a vaginal cavity, or other target region. The elongate members may be expandable into a symmetrical or asymmetrical expanded configuration, e.g., into a generally spherical, pear-shaped, or planar configuration. A system for delivering brachytherapy includes the applicator and an access device for lining and/or dilating a body cavity and/or for receiving the applicator therein. The access device is advanced into a body cavity, an expandable member on the access device is inflated, the applicator is advanced into the access device, and the elongate members are expanded to deliver radiation to the target region. Alternatively, the access device carries an expandable device into the target region, the expandable device is removed after dilating the target region, and the applicator is introduced through the access device to deliver radiation.

    摘要： Brachytherapy treatment apparatus are provided that include an elongate core member, a plurality of expandable catheters or other elongate members and a balloon or other expandable member on a distal portion adjacent the core member. Each catheter includes a distal end coupled to the core member distal end, a proximal end movable relative to the core member, and a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends for receiving a source of radiation therealong. The balloon is expandable independently of the catheters such that the balloon may be expanded after expanding the catheters, e.g., to facilitate imaging and/or dose planning. Optionally, a working channel may be provided for receiving an aspiration catheter or other instrument or at least one of the catheters may include an aspiration lumen and one or more ports, e.g., for aspirating material from a region surrounding the distal portion.

A multiplicity of fibers oriented to extend longitudinally between the clamp and conduit may be composed of filaments and either woven or non-woven to form a fabric. A variety of weaves are contemplated to provide different textures, each having its own traction characteristics. The nature of the weave can control characteristics such as smoothness, absorption, and texture. The fibers or filaments may be formed from any solid or semi-solid material, adding its own characteristics to the resulting fabric insert or clamp.

    摘要： Apparatus for delivering brachytherapy to a target tissue region includes an elongate body including a proximal end, a distal end sized for introduction into a tissue tract and carrying a plurality of elongate members including pathways for receiving a source of radiation. The elongate members are movable between collapsed and expanded configurations. During use, a tract is created through tissue, and the elongate body carrying the elongate members is advanced through the tract into a target location with the elongate members in the collapsed configuration. The elongate members are directed to the expanded configuration at the target location, and radiation is delivered to treat tissue at the target location, e.g., by introducing one or more radiation sources along the pathways.
