Abstract:
The present invention relates to a storage unit for gases, in particular a sorptive storage, with the storage unit comprising a sorbent for the reversible uptake of the gases to be stored and the sorbent being based on discrete sorptive particles. The sorptive particles are embedded in a solid gas-permeable three-dimensional support having a foam structure and/or are fixed thereto. The storage unit is particularly suitable for the storage of combustible or fossil gases, e.g. hydrogen, natural gas and the like, and thus as gas storage unit in power stations and motor vehicles.
Abstract:
A filter unit for the purification of air includes at least a first filter element, which contains granular, especially spherical, activated carbon as an adsorbent material, and at least a second filter element, which contains a combination of granular, especially spherical, activated carbon and activated carbon fibers as an adsorbent material. The filter unit is suitable especially for use in ventilation plants, ventilation systems, air-conditioning systems and the like.
Abstract:
The present invention involves an inner shoe material with adsorbent properties, whereby activated carbon particles are fixed as the adsorbent material by means of an adhesive substance in a punctiform manner to the side of the material facing away from the foot. The inner shoe material of the invention can be designed as inside lining, insoles, slipsoles, as inner sole of the shoe or as a covering material for the inner sole of the shoe. The inner shoe material of the invention can e.g. be used for combat boots with integrated C-protection or for safety boots with protection against aggressive chemicals. The inner shoe material has the advantage that it exhibits a high degree of scuff resistance on the one hand and the adsorbent activated carbon is freely accessible to the substances to be adsorbed, on the other.
Abstract:
A waterproof and moisture-conducting fabric comprising a base permeable to water vapor and sealed with a closed coating of a hydrophilic polymer. The sealing coating is advantageously a compressed foam of an acrylic resin modified with polyvinyl chloride or polyurethane. A second base may be laminated onto the sealing layer. Protective fillers such as lead compounds and carbon may be included in or on the coating. The fabric is suited for protective clothing articles such as rescue-at-sea garments and shoe uppers, and sleeping bags.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an adsorbing material (1), particularly for producing protective suits, comprising an especially planar supporting material (2), an at least substantially air-impermeable, steam-permeable barrier layer (3), and an adsorbing layer (4). The baffler layer (3) is applied to the supporting material (2) and is used as an adhesive layer for the adsorbing layer (4) that is disposed on the face of the barrier layer (3), which lies opposite the supporting material (2). The baffler layer (3) is provided with a steam permeability of at least 20 l/m2 per 24 h at 25° C. and at a thickness of 50 μm.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing granular, particularly spherical activated carbon by carbonization of suitable carbonaceous polymers in the form of polymer granules, in particular polymer spherules, as a starting material, which are convertible by carbonization into carbon at least essentially, wherein the polymer granules, in particular the polymer spherules, are continuously moved through a carbonization apparatus comprising a plurality of temperature zones and/or a temperature gradient so that an at least essentially complete conversion of the starting material to carbon is effected.
Abstract:
An adsorption filter material used especially for producing protective materials, such as NBC protective suits, has a first layer, a second layer, and an adsorption layer arranged between the first layer and the second layer. The adsorption layer has a first activated carbon layer with granular or spherical activated carbon particles. The first activated carbon layer additionally contains activated carbon fibers and/or the adsorption layer additionally contains a second activated carbon layer with activated carbon fibers.

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of silver-containing polymer beads, characterized in that I) a mixture of a) styrene b) crosslinker c) organic silver salt d) free-radical initiator and, if appropriate, e) inerting agent is produced, and II) the resultant mixture is cured in an aqueous phase at an increased temperature to form polymer beads.
Abstract:
Granulated activated carbon is produced by an improved process which involves carbonizing pellets of a styrene-divinyl benzene copolymer matrix with concentrated sulfuric acid at temperatures up to at least 750.degree. C., followed by activation at temperatures of 800.degree. C. to 900.degree. C.
